The protesters want to remain free from an authoritarian regime. Wouldn't you? What exactly is Beijing doing to oppress them? More to the point, what are passengers at HK Airport doing to oppress them? I just got a report that they're waiting for people to check in their luggage and then preventing them going to their gates. How is that advancing their cause? That's not standing up to authority, or is it?

It would seem clear people in HK are highly concerned of the potential for the imposition of mainland authority on the island state, they intend to fight and resist this threat. Good luck to the people of HK.
