Thai tourism ‘will be hit badly’ by Hong Kong airport closure

Featured Replies

I heard on the news yesterday that the airport accounts for 5 percent of the gross income (or something) of HK, enough to hurt, as well as international businesses preparing options if this continues.

Well, time for TAT to hit on the Mongolians, then!

  • If that calculation is right, that means every visitor from Hong Kong in general should have been spending over 41k baht.

Airport closures?  Pffft

Wait until Chinese troops stream across the border.

I would recommend serious politics afficionados to check a 4-part Youtube docu re: China-US war

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBe2wpZqN0s

The docu was done circa 2015, nothing to do w/Trump (for you Trump-haters)

With a Tomatometer ®️ reading of 97%   I think this'll be worth a peek.

I really wonder how anyone could find fault with what the lady says in the intro about everyone in the  world essentially wanting the same basic things.

The film pits the US vs China but what if it was a draw a line in the sand kind of thing and go All IN?    World wide choose your side or just accept the outcome.    Which side would North Korea or Japan or even Thailand choose?

Thanks for the link.

Can anybody find me somebody to blame?
Ooh, each morning I get up I die a little
Can barely stand on my feet
(Take a look at yourself) Take a look in the mirror and cry (and cry)
Lord, what you're doing to me (yeah yeah)
I have spent all my years in believing you
But I just can't get no relief, Lord!
Somebody (somebody) ooh somebody (somebody)
Can anybody find me somebody to blame?
I work hard (he works hard) every day of my life
I work 'til I ache in my bones
At the end (at the end of the day)
I take home my hard earned pay all on my own
I get down (down) on my knees (knees)
And I start to pray
'Til the tears run down from my eyes
Lord, somebody (somebody), ooh somebody
(Please) can anybody find me somebody to blame?
Everyday (everyday) I try and I try and I try
But everybody wants to put me down
They say I'm going crazy
They say I got a lot of water in my brain
Ah, got no common sense
I got nobody left to believe in
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Oh, Lord
Ooh somebody, ooh somebody
Can anybody find me somebody to blame?
(Can anybody find me someone to blame)
Got no feel, I got no rhythm
I just keep losing my beat (you just keep losing and losing)
I'm OK, I'm alright (he's alright, he's alright)
I ain't gonna face no defeat (yeah yeah)
I just gotta get out of this prison cell
One day (someday) I'm gonna be free, Lord!
Find me somebody to blame
Find me somebody to blame
Find me somebody to blame
Find me somebody to blame
Find me somebody to blame
Find me somebody to blame
Find me somebody to blame
Find me somebody to blame blame blame
Find me somebody to blame
Find me somebody to blame
Somebody somebody somebody somebody
Somebody find me
Somebody find me somebody to blame
Can anybody find me somebody to blame?
(Find me somebody to blame)
Ooh
(Find me somebody to blame)
Find me somebody, somebody (find me somebody to blame) somebody, somebody to blame
Find me, find me, find me, find me, find me
Ooh, somebody to blame (Find me somebody to blame)
Ooh (find me somebody to blame)
Find me, find me, find me somebody to blame (find me somebody to blame)
Anybody, anywhere, anybody find me somebody to blame blame blame!
Somebody find me, find me blame

Try listening to classical music for a change, it will surprise you (sorry no teeny world pain words)

It will be hit badly by closure of an airport in 7 million country?

Did you <deleted> forgot a calculator at the sopie massage?

Anyone with a brain would leave Trump all alone. Let him make America insignificant again.

Very true and has been stated at least five times by different people already today.

Too many think that HK is a country, it's not. It's a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China. Just another province. Like Tibet.

Somehow I doubt the protesters care very much.

Nor did the Thai BKK airport protestors when they shut down the BKK airport a while back.  That caused a lot of problems for people that had planned vacations, booked and paid reservations, scheduled once a year time off from work, flew from 1/2 way around the world.  I have no sympathy for airport protestors that do nothing but inconvenience others.  If you want to protest, go protests where your government sits or holds court or whatever.

Many flights from China direct to BKK... HK wants to save their democracy... BJ wants citizens that got out now HK residents back

that they feel need to be slapped.......

Hong Kong airport is a hub for many transfer flights. I believe the protests in the airport do not effect transfer flights. Delays, yes.

The shutdown of the HK airport would affect all flights that go to/from that airport.  Even if the terminal and air traffic control were to somehow remain open and operational, what about the confidence of the future passengers booking their tickets with a Hong Kong leg?

Mainland China has many tricks they can use to enforce their influence over HK.

.........Closure of Chinese airspace would send their ticket prices from Europe into the stratosphere, killing the profitability of these routes - they don't get much of their profit through passengers who hop on the last sector only. The writer draws parallels to the devastating effects the closure of Saudi airspace had on Qatar Airways' business in recent years, and sets out how much worse this would be for the HK airline:
