The Royal Thai Police (RTP) revealed on August 16 that many senior positions in the police bureau will be vacant as 6,293 officers will be retiring from the force on September 30.

Among those retiring are the three deputy National Police commissioners, namely Pol General Chalermkiat Srivorakan, Pol General Rungroj Saengkram and Pol General Srivara Ransibrahmanakul, as well as RTP deputy inspector general Pol Lt-General Tawitchai Palasak.

Also retiring are 13 police commissioners, including Provincial Police Region 2 Commissioner Pol Lt-General Jitti Rodbangyang, Tourist Police chief Pol Lt-General Thirapol Kuptanon, Office of Forensic Science chief Pol Lt-General Panomporn Itthiprasert and Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Pol Lt-General Sutthipong Wongpin.

In addition, 34 deputy commissioners and 47 police commanders will also be retiring on September 30.

If RTP had got their act together, they would have already filled the vacancies! I find it inconceivable that "Retiring police officers to leave over 6000 posts vacant"! Surely they knew well in advance that there wold be 6,000 retirements!

This is a start now if only the other 224,000 bent coppers would retire we could start all over again with a police force that is actually paid to serve the people and not their own self interests!!!!!!!!

And gogo bars, massage shops etc.

shame on you for casting doubt on their undoubted business skills and wise enterprise investments in the private sector, using only their Police basic salary.

So they only just found out more than 6,000 will retire next month?

With 6000 leaving parties anticipated, should be easy for many of us to get an invite.

Now, the silly question, what happened to future planning any time in the last ten years?

A pity the same isn't happening in the army, I can think of at least one (ex-)general whose retirement would make Thailand a better place.

He's retarded retired already. This is just a part-time job to keep his hand in shouting at plebs.

Someone made off with the funds for the planning committee.
