I was wondering why my order 6, 22 and 34 was taking so long but now i know! Thanks

Some truly disgusting, shameful and racist comments in this thread.  The worst of the worst have come crawling out and it is appalling.

Let's not forget a man was murdered.  Yet people want to make comments about someone not getting his fried pork, their orders taking too long, TM30 for the dead body etc.

Absolutely disgusting.

Nooooo, the point is the Thai police always look to foreign nationals rather than a Thai citizen whenever there is a crime committed in LOS...don't you read the newspapers?

No they don't.

Guess the cops didn't stop to think about the effect on Chinese tourism by concluding murder.  Else they could have said he jumped off the balcony visible in the photo then bounced off the concrete and into the restaurant where he was found.  Just another suicide nothing to see here.

The photo is the local police station.  I doubt he jumped from there.

If true that Myanmar workers were responsible for his death, then MY response would be a BAN on emigrant workers from Myanmar. Trouble is- like many global businesses, you seek the cheapest labor. And Thais should only be concerned with hiring their own. Other countries do so.......and so, yet another f..k-up for many reasons. Pathetic. I have never seen SO many acts of violence- whether alcohol-fueled or simply a lack of "certain" Asians with absolutely NO restraint or any idea of right and wrong.

Keep bringing them in Thailand..your country is already going down the s..t hole for countless reasons. Pay native Thais a decent wage and forget about the cheap Myanmar labor. I'm surprised that the gov't allows this to begin with- you take care of your own.

The Myanmar workers murdered the Chinese guy because he told them to shut up? He was probably right, but that's no reason to murder someone though as someone who does business in that country and regularly visits, the people there do have a bit of a "wild west" attitude and unbelievable sense of entitlement (this does not apply to the more educated upper classes who are quite wonderful people).

If you think Thais drive badly, cross the border to Myanmar and you'll quickly find yourself looking at Thai drivers as if they were the most disciplined drivers on the planet. Just the other day when I was in Myanmar, some Thai trucks parked outside customs at night next to the border crossing were taking up one lane of traffic, meanwhile some selfish Burmese driver parked diagonally so he could do some shopping, blocking traffic for half an hour. Soldiers armed with rifles came to his car, which he managed to retrieve just in time. The night before at the casino a selfish driver double parks but with his hand brake on!! At least Thais have discipline, in Myanmar it's the law of the jungle!

I agree. Even more silly is the Thai government is shooting itself in the foot by allowing ungrateful Burmese workers to pay the same as Thais (or only slightly more) at public hospitals while Thais who go in the other direction are with rare exceptions, treated the same as western expats are in that country. I think it's outrageous to allow Burmese or Cambodians lower prices but then gouge the farang. It's racism, pure and simple and yet it's farang who actually appreciate Thailand, whereas the Burmese and Cambodians have no love for Thailand whatsoever.

Unlike many jaded expats who seem to think Thailand is the worst country ever and no foreigners can ever do wrong, from my own observations, Burmese workers are trouble makers far more so than Thais. Burmese have little idea of right and wrong and are so entitled it's unbelievable.

Thailand should stop bringing in expendable laborers from Myanmar to do jobs like being a gas station attendant. In other countries, motorists pump their own gas - I also prefer to pump my own gas - there is no reason for hiring a foreigner to do a job which probably won't exist in 10 years time anyway. As you say, either pay Thais a more decent wage or automate the process. In this specific case, just fire the 10 or 20 pump attendants, replacing them with one or two Thais at the cash register. Unbelievably though, there are actually FEWER self-serve gas stations in Thailand now than a couple of years ago. Given that costs are going up, this is extremely puzzling. Shouldn't it be the opposite?

I'm also confused why 7 foreign workers were needed to staff this restaurant. I thought there was a 4 to 1 rule meaning only 1 foreigner can be hired for 4 Thais. Clearly the Chinese man broke the law by not hiring enough Thais - he should have hired only 1 Burmese and the rest should have been Thai.

Seems the Myanmar people also pick up the bad habits of the Thais and having a short fuse. .... note to self : be careful who you drink with... even if it is for rapport building.

Actually Thais are more reasonable than Burmese. The latter are far more entitled.

They do have the advantage of having been ruled by the British after all

No.  Rules are different for Burmese, Laos and Cambodian workers.

Why would the rules be different for them? Another example of how these workers are privileged. No idea why Thailand gives them so many privileges when they give nothing back to Thailand.

It's one thing to have a 4 to 1 locals vs foreigners policy in place (which may be a good thing in some ways) but then ignore it altogether when the foreigners are from these three countries.

I think it's pure racism against westerners and Japanese and a very poorly thought out policy by the Thai government.

There's little to no evidence of that left. They barely even eat toast anymore in that country and the whole border is ruled by a collection of militias. Thailand is far more civilized than Burma. Period.

Besides, if they were ruled by the British why is it that the Burmese don't know what cricket is? Every other former British colony plays cricket, even Bangladesh.

Privileged?  Racism?  Are you for real or just having a laugh?

The rules are different because nationals from those three countries do the lowliest, dirtiest, most unpleasant and labour intensive work that the Thais don't want to do.  And are happy with lower salaries.

Do you think Westerners and Japanese want to work as maids, production line labourers, fruit pickers?

Surely you were just having a laugh......
