fj709
I will be spending part of my year (probably about 3-4 months) with my Thai wife who is 8 years younger in Thailand. Does anyone have advice as to what medical insurance I should/could take during my stay, hopefully not for anything major but in case of an accident for instance. We will be living about 80 miles south east of Bangkok. I nearly forgot to mention that I am 61 years old. billd766
I am not sure which country you are from but it seems as though you should be able to get reasonable cover from your present insurers (if any). I am 62 and I live in Thailand with my Thai wife (21 years younger) and 2 1/2 year old son. For them insurance from a Thai company is. easy. For me it is virtually impossible and that which is possible is close to extortionate. Get good accident cover just in case and the cost of hospital treatment is not so high compared to Europe or the USA BUT it is also not free. stagger
If your Home Policy will not cover you in Thailand, a Travel policy may be the best option even for a stay ot 3-4 months as most of these type of policies go for 180 days. Maximum age on the one I used before is 85 years old so no problems there. A family travel policy would also cover your wife. Plans vary but a single economy plan are less than US$100.00 for 3 months. Benefits include Personal Accident and Hospital Expenses.
