What do Thais use "liquid smoke" for?

Luckily for nothing, it's used in the west to mimick properly smoked food, a really poor substitute to the real thing. Same as using MSG instead of kombu dashi, it completely lacks nuance.

Thais put MSG in just about everything, including dishes that are not supposed to have any savory taste. And they use it by boatload, covering any other tastes. The result is everything tastes same and is just plain wrong. Thai food can be delicious when prepared with proper herbs but it's becoming near extinct now. But wthat can you expect from people who put ketchup and mayo on top of a pizza. Savages.

It's obvious you didn't google and even read even one article. There are also many videos on this which would be easier than reading the articles. Start with the video below.

You can argue/communicate with the video producers if you want. I don't have any time to argue with you anymore so this is my last post with you, I only believe what I and my friends feel after taking MSG.

Brilliant, a documentary from 1991, 28 years ago!  Overflowing with bang-up-to-date information.

What's obvious is that you either didn't read my comment to you or you chose to ignore it because you couldn't justify the allegation that Ajinomoto paid for the studies!  Just to remind you this was my post...

"If you said so, many times, it must be true; which are the studies paid for by Ajinomoto that you know of?"

MSG is not "forbidden" in Europe.

of course not.

That's what I said.

sorry, you statement is no proof. Knorr does not publish the percentages of individual ingredients.

I am sorry too, I was in the Knorr factory in Thayngen, Switzerland on a factory tour years ago where they made this statement - your call!

"I was in the Knorr factory in Thayngen, Switzerland on a factory tour years ago…"

Years ago!  That says it all, just like the poster who tried to back up his 2019 anti-MSG argument with a 1991 documentary!

Well, I cannot prove a negative.

Be it as you want it; please carry on and enjoy Ajinomoto (MSG) by the big soup spoon - I for one keep away from using it. Having said that, I shall use Swiss Knorr Aromat as a cooking seasoning while not being thirsty for hours after the meal. Bon appétit!

"The moral of the story is simple: Blanket statements like "MSG isn't bad for you" are misguided — they give a false perception of safety to a compound that not everyone should be consuming."

It is a very small amount of people who have bad reactions to it and usually with high dosages only... so

'Healthy food' does not have an 'ingredients label'. Healthy food is 'whole', as in in 'live' natural state (that is if you are interested in the nutritional benefits).

Processed foods have many chemical preservatives to maintain their shelf life. 'Healthy food' is food that perishes is 7-10 days...i.e...'fresh' fruits and vegetables.

Non-healthy foods/processed foods:

https://www.lhsfna.org/index.cfm/lifelines/may-2019/the-many-health-risks-of-processed-foods/

Joel Fuhrman MD has published a list of just 'some' of the most and least nutrient-dense foods...you'll get the picture...

I wasn't expecting you to prove anything, I was commenting on your reference to "years ago" as though everything that happened in the food or science world years ago was still necessarily relevant, or indeed, accurate, today.

Debunked by those manufacturers of Ajinomoto and their sellers.

I and some of my friends get severe migraine after taking MSG so how can that be a myth?

My wife also gets migraine headache from MSG..she almost has given up eating food she doesn't prepare herself..about 70% of the times she eats street food she's got a headache later.

I always get headache unknowingly in the past and 'doctors' never gave me the reason until I find some articles on the internet about MSG.

When I removed MSG from my food, they went away.

Most Thai and Chinese food have MSG added.

Hey try using your brain.....If millions and millions of people say MSG is a poison to them then the sky is blue the sun is yellow and MSG is a poison to millions....No study needed.....End of story.....

Some people are allergic to msg, much like dozens of other food itwms or ingredients. Google 'MSG Mayo Clinic' for some genuine authoritative info on the subject. Seems it's not quite as bad as commonly believed.

It's a sign that it is harmful to your body. Your body needs to work hard by asking you to drink water to flush it out of your system.

Google MSG poisoning.

So-called 'studies' are usually done by big powerful companies like the western pharmacy which produce bias results. They have the money to produce as many 'studies' as they want.

The pharmaceutical industry is a big business condoned by FDA. Japan is one of the countries in this alliance.

Your body and how you actually feel is the best study .

I once met a retiree in Thailand who told me that if he takes anything with MSG, he will go into a short-term coma so his Thai wife reads his food label very seriously.

I bet the Ajinomoto will never want to put his case into their biased 'studies'.

Millions of millions of people say there is only one God and millions of millions of people say there are many gods, so who should we trust?

The fact of the matter is that people who claim to suffer from sensitivity to MSG have not been able to pinpoint when they've actually ingested MSG in double blind tests. They might experience symptoms when they think they've eaten MSG, but the actual science done around these seems to point towards it being a placebo effect.

LOL........I have personally had very bad effects from MSG on a number of occasions...The worst times were after eating at a few Chinese restaurants...

They can take their lab coats and O-so Hi-so  High-tec Advanced degree double blind horse poop studys and throw them in the dumpster and set them on fire as far as I am concerned....

I know what MSG sickness feels like and so do millions and millions of other people.....

And we dont need some soul-less high paid corporate research hacks to tell us how we feel or dont feel...

The right place for these so called research hacks is prison.....

There are countless people who claim to suffer from electromagnetic hypersensitivity (electricity allergy) as well, and they actually experience symptoms of it. But whenever they are tested in a controlled environment, they can't determine when they actually are being exposed to electromagnetism.

The same goes for "MSG allergy" – it's a placebo. You experience reactions after having eaten at Chinese restaurangs because you expect to feel bad. Yes, you experience symptoms, but it's not because of MSG allergy.

And are you seriously suggesting we throw scientists in prison because their research doesn't back up your belief? You're sounding more and more like a religious nut.

Any one who pushes a AGENDA on some one against their will and tries to tell them they are nuts and not feeling what they are feeling....Yes they absolutely should should spend time in prison......Prison would give them time to reconsider their actions....

MSG is not bloody rocket science.......If I eat a big bag of Plain Lays Potato Chips (which have no MSG) I feel just fine.........If I eat a big bag of Lays Barbecued smoke flavored Potato Chips (which has LOADS AND LOADS OF MSG) I will feel MSG sickness, I got MSG sickness from Lays Barbecued smoke flavored Potato Chips many Times before I even knew about MSG.....

MSG IS A POISON THAT MAKES MILLIONS OF PEOPLE FEEL SICK AND THE ONLY REALLY SICK-Os are the ones trying to convince others they are not sick...

Perhaps these "millions and millions of people" should just stop using it.  End of story.

Sorry, Snowflake, but you're on a discussion forum. If you want to sit in a bubble where no one can contradict you, I suggest you unplug your internet cable. No one's "pushing an AGENDA" and no one's saying you're not "feeling what you're feeling". The fact that you are seriously suggesting that people who contradict you should go to prison is absolutely baffling. Are you actually an adult or some hormonal 12-year-old? Or perhaps North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un?

On the contrary, I have time and time again re-iterated that PEOPLE CONVINCED THEY ARE SUFFERING FROM MSG ALLERGY DO FEEL SYMPTOMS. I'm not sure how I can make this any more clear, as I've already explained it as I would to a child. Placebos causes actual effects and symptoms, but due to the convictions of the user, not the perceived source of these effects.

This is a well-documented phenomenon, not only as a whole, but specifically connected to MSG. And no, this is not done by some evil corporation hell-bent on making you eat MSG for absolutely no conceivable reason, but scientists trying to establish actual facts.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there's no global conspiracy to poison your or anyone else with MSG.
