Sorry to give you a history lesson, but the Bahamas have been an independent nation since 1973, therefore although aligned as a Commonwealth country ( same as Australia, NZ Canada and some others) the UK has no responsibility to them .

I am sure that the UK along with many other nations, will send support and aid once rescue workers can get to assess needs.

So for Trump to offer assistance is in line with humanitarian ethos
