Hi,

I would like to apply 1-year ED visa. Now school send documents to Ministry od Education (if I didn't make mistake). When they got papers back I have to apply for visa outside Thailand. I am thinking about Penang. Can you tell me how it looks now there? Is there any problems? Do they require some criminal records documents from police?

I will be grateful for any help.

Thanks!

PS. I learn Thai and don't do it only to get visa. Just saying, to make it clear :)

I think it a police clearance certificate will be needed.

It appears on the checklist for the non-ed visa shown on the embassy website Kuala Lumpur that the Penang website send you to for their requirements.

Maybe because this is a Thai visa forum, not Malaysia?

He's asking about obtaining a Thai visa at a Thai embassy/consulate in Malaysia.

Thai visas are generally applied for before entering Thailand since Thai embassies/consulates don't operate inside Thailand.

Thinking of doing an ED Visa myself.

Maybe you could update if you get the visa and which school you are enrolled in.

Seems there maybe a crackdown but hardly any information on if it is specific schools or just in general.

Seems to me that most people requiring an Education Visa could do with the Education. Otherwise get a TV and see where you can go from there.
Well that's the point of the ED visa... being able to get education. ;-)

I got an Ed visa from Ho Chi Mihn city in May with absolutely no problems at all. The school provided the documents I needed from them and I just had to make copies of the usual pages from my passport. No need for a background check or medical certificate. Very straight forward and easy. I was in and out of the consulate in less than 10 minutes to hand in my application and maybe had to wait 15 minutes the next day to collect.
