Luke Goodere died after suffering a punctured abdomen in a fall in Thailand

A British man who died after falling through glass doors in Thailand "lived life to the full", his family has said.

Luke Goodere, 33, was staying with friends on Phi Phi island, when he tripped into the doors, which shattered, puncturing his abdomen.

Mr Goodere, from Skegness, Lincolnshire, may have sustained his injuries tripping over a suitcase.

A Lincolnshire coroner recorded a conclusion of accidental death after the fall, on 11 April.

Maybe Did you never in your life stumble when you were sober? Should everybody who drinks alcohol pay with his life?

  • I really don't think that is fair, if he drank too much, so what? He was in the "safety" of his hotel room and it was an accident.  Poor guy, RIP.

  • A good reason for the implementation of safety glass in all doors etc.

What a sad event and tragic accident. RIP young man. There is something to the adage 'Live your life to the fullest each every day'.

And who was responsible to have glass like that in a door?

People fall from time to time. That's one of the reasons why security glass is used in doors all over the world.

What is the law in Thailand about security glass?

Drunk too much?

"He had consumed some alcohol and he and his friends returned to his accommodation.

In the UK any glass below waist high must be hardened.

Ive lost count of the times that I travelled in an inter city bus which had huge window width cracks. Another perfectly avoidable end to a young life. Sad.

Yes

Stumbling into glass doors and panes is a very common occurrence all over the world and many people loses life and limbs as results of such accidents. so very bad luck there indeed...

tiled  floors, wet  floor , wet shoes, tripped  on rug elderly ( my Mothers sister  died from banging head  on floor when slipped) and a whole host of other ways to fall down. Safety  glass would  stop most of  that

Drunk/clumsy... same same.

Glad to hear you did not die !!

A Brit? Where is the crowdfunding website?

I once had a knife pulled on me in Skeggy, true story. Not sure if his chances were better or worse in the land of safety glass. RIP lad.

yeah, it says "he enjoyed life to the full".  that means alcohol, the heavy stuff or it would not even be pointed out for the dude.  because we are all alive until we are dead.  something like that.

wow!  when we study language at all and how it is used we gain all kinds of insight.  same reason Noam Chomsky has such excellent thoughts even still at age 90 something.  well, actually we almost become intelligent as we get that old.... if we live that long.

back to this story.  "living full" as opposed to what we would have to express today as a "really real life" as opposed to "enjoying life to the full".  and that was [sic] especially true for this fellow, who is dead now.

Doesn't matter if he was drunk or not.

Thailand has no safety, and that is the problem.

I dont think you can avoid it all and if your drunk your at least partly to blame yourself.

Thailand has plenty of safety, implementation and enforcement is the problem.

the OH&S review will be on his case...

What is the accident in your opinion,  falling over or being killed by the glass?

However whether drunk, partly drunk, or sober it makes no difference - poor safety standards resulted in his death.

Then maybe you always blame the victim.

Drunk or not, the bottom line is that he would probably still be alive if safety glass were used...
