The Department of the Drainage and Sewerage of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has expressed confidence that it has taken all necessary measures to prevent flooding in the capital in the event of heavy downpours, including reporting on the flood situation in real time.

Narong Ruansri, director of BMA’s drainage department, said officials from his department have taken all necessary steps to get the capital ready for heavy rains unleashed by the monsoon.

He said his department will constantly monitor data from weather radar. Blockages have been cleared from sewerage channels in the capital and all major drainage canals have been dredged and thw weeds cleared.

He added that water pumps have been installed at key points for draining rainwater as fast as possible while drainage canals are ready to operate at full capacity.

Water levels in the drainage canals have also been lowered in anticipation of heavy rains.

He said residents of the capital can also monitor the flood situation at the website and social networks channels of the department at:
