Hi there,

I just picked up my new O visa from the Vientiane consulate. When I submitted my documents I was told
that I need a bank statement. This has never been a requirement over the last few years, which I told the
person behind the counter. He replied that this is a new requirement but granted me an exception upon learning
that I have successfully applied for this visa many times over the years.

Is this really a new requirement for Non O based on child visit or did he confuse this with a different visa type?

Been a requirement in Malaysia for a year now, 200.000 THB for a 3 months visa and 400.000 THB for a Non O based on child visit one year visa. Think this is against UN Human rights to visit your kids as Thailand is a signatory of this agreement.

How much did they want to see in the bank? I suspect only the equivalent of 20k baht that is the standard amount for visa applications.

Has anybody else applied recently for a Non-O Visa based on visiting ones child?
Did you have to provide a statement or cash?

I did a few months back for a single entry in HCMC, was not asked for a bank statement. Are you aware you can extend the single entry for 60 days in immigration?
