I don’t fear a second vote. I oppose it because it is unnecessary and an affront to democracy.

The affront to democracy came in 2016 when the electorate were asked to vote on an extremely complex issue and without a detailed white paper being published. How can any attempt at correcting an affront to democracy be seen as an affront to democracy.

I can appreciate that those voting on an emotional level would not have been interested in any white paper.

Those that thought they were well informed would not have voted the way they did if not on an emotional level. The result has hardly been in the national interest and now facing austerity for years to come.

The UK is already up to a staggering £66bn poorer because of the Brexit vote after economic growth evaporated, experts warn today.

The huge loss means the hit to national income – around £420m a week – is greater than Boris Johnson’s discredited claim that leaving the EU would deliver a £350m boost for the NHS.

Isnt Scotland reliant on the rest of the UK to financially support them ?

Scotland's GDP would put it about 12th in the list of EU member states.

We are all aware that should Scotland ever make an application to join the EU, England would do what it could to undermine that position.

Hell hath no fury.......................................

Yeah and you’d get outvoted by all the Remainers who will now pay attention and get their complacent <deleted> off the couch and vote.
Not to mention the new lot of youngsters who are now eligible to vote V all the oldies who have popped their clogs in the last 3 years.
You don’t stand a chance and you know it.

I thought we all agreed that UK MPs are mostly remain?

And yet they don't dare force another GE or referendum.

Why do you think this the majority of (remainer) MPs have no interest in demanding another referendum or GE? ????

Wow, 12th in the EU list!  Clearly a great catch that would be immediately embraced by the EU as yet another member claiming funds rather than contributing....

The second and third paras. aren't worthy of comment.

Scotland ran a deficit seven times higher than the UK as a whole last year, despite again cutting its overspend on public services.

The latest Government Expenditure and Revenue Scotland (Gers) figures showed there was a record gap of nearly £2,000 per person between how much was spent on public services and debt repayment, and total tax revenues for 2018-19.

Scotland’s notional deficit stood at £12.6bn or 7% of GDP, including North Sea oil revenues, compared with the UK’s total £23.5bn deficit, which includes Scotland’s figure. The UK deficit is equivalent to 1.1% of its GDP.

This has been explained a hundred times on various threads but clearly you have no interest in listening to the accepted truth when you can spout nonsensical Brexiteer rhetoric.

I do wish you'd stop quoting the Independent - sadly, the most biased newspaper around nowadays....

Would you prefer it if we exclusively quoted from the Sun? The only problem would be that we wouldn't be able to quote any facts. (Not that it would be a problem for Brexiteers, I suppose).

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, and even more so in a display of ignorance.

With a GDP per capita of $43,740, Scotland would take a higher place than the UK at $42,506.

Debts can structured and dealt with on a sound income, as we all know. A fair percentage of that income is dependent on the EU so remaining is very much in the Scottish national interest.

Where do you think the UK deficit will be when the brexit bills come through the letterbox.

The "fresh source of immigrants" wouldn't be able to muscle in on the Heroin trade, British Pakistanis have it sown up, primarily because the majority of heroin is produced in Pakistan. Likewise the grooming gangs.

You seem to ignore the fact that leaving the EU will only control the flow of EU citzens int the UK, not from 3rd world countries.

As for overcrowding in schools and access to health and other services, together with an oversupply of labour resulting in unemployment and downward pressure of wages, yes that problem may have been excassipated by people migrating from the EU but mostly in Southern England, not Bradford, Huddersfield and East Lancs. By far the biggest cause of the problems you highlighted, particularly overcrowding in schools and access to health and other services has been caused by years of underfunding by succesive Tory governments.

If you really feel strongly about these issues and want to see improvements in these areas rather than a further decline, don't leave the EU, just vote the Tories out.

leaving the European could limit the number of immigrants via the "freedom of movement" also any eu country with a migrant problem has to do is issue them with a passport and a one way ticket to britain.

More fallacies sold to you by Dominic Cummings. FOM only applies to citizens of EU countries.

Currently, it takes on average 8 years for a migrant into Germany to obtain a full German passport. By which time they and their families have settled in Germany, learned the language and their children are attending school there. Would have zero reasons for wanting to up sticks again and move to the UK and start the process all over again

Dream on.

Of course it is -  has every currency dropped 16% against the dollar since 23rd Jun 2016?

The economic damage from the Brexit vote – even before the UK actually leaves the EU – is the result of the plunging pound squeezing household incomes and uncertainty hitting investment.
