Best Road To Ban Laem?

Featured Replies

I am doing my first (and I hope last) visa run to Ban Laem. Driving there myself as not interested in using a Visa Run service. Can someone advise the best route from BKK starting at the On Nut end of Sukhumvit Road. Also, is it advisable to use one of the Visa Agents at the border? I aim to arrive at about 1.00 pm to avoid the Visa Run companies who arrive in the mornings.

You should consider to use the guys who leave from On Nut.

As far as I remember the way to Ban Laem is not clearly marked, you might get lost.

May be you not need this info anymore, but anyhow.

November 1st last year I drove myself to Ban Laem on a trip from Chanthaburi to Khon Kaen. It is not easy but it is doable. Signs in general Thai only. But you can use road numbers. I used the PNMAP "Map of Eastern" 1:400000, bilingual: English and Thai! I do not know the best way from Bangkok. I recommend to head to road 317, may be driving by Sa Kaeo, where I drove by. Change to road 3193 south of Soi Dao. Follow 3193 to the East. After junction to road 3405 (on the PNMAP number 3045) leave 3193 in direction North-East to Ban Laem, about 4 km away. Before leaving 3193 you can ask people to be sure.

I have a Non-Immigration Visa O Multiple Entry and did all myself at the boarder: stopped the car on the Thai side at 10:00 for 20 Baht, left Thailand and got exit stamp, walked 20 m over the bridge to Cambodia, got Visa on Arrival for 1100 Baht in one "building", got allowance to stay in Cambodia until December 1st and Exit stamp in another "building" for 200 Baht, made some pictures of the boarder, walked back to Thailand, filled in Arrival Card, got allowance to stay again in Thailand 90 days. No queues anywhere, some minibuses came when I left Ban Laem.
