Thailand to host World Ganja Festival 2020

 

   

BANGKOK (NNT) - Following the liberalization of cannabis for medical use, marijuana is being seen as a potential cash crop which can benefit Thailand’s economy. The Association of Researchers of Thailand has now joined members of the public and the private sector to organize the World Ganja Festival 2020.

 

The Association of Researchers of Thailand has signed an agreement with the Thai Nationalism Foundation, the Journalist and Media Association of Thailand and provincial administrative organizations of Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon and Mukdahan to hold the World Ganja Festival 2020 between January 29 and February 2 next year. The venue is on 40 acres of land near Nong Yat Reservoir in Nakhon Phanom province.

 

Gen. Charan Kullawanit, an honorary adviser to the World Ganja Festival project, said today that the festival is being held for the first time in Thailand, and will serve as a platform for people to exchange their knowledge of cannabis for medical use. The event will also help promote Thailand as a developer of top quality marijuana strains, which will contribute to the country’s economic growth.

 

"We’re the main host. Thailand’s the main host. We’re deciding who we will invite. The association chairperson said there’ll be Chinese, Japanese and American guests. They once opposed the idea. We’ll invite them so we can listen to their academic ideas, presentations and statements. We’ll see how the event will benefit the global community."

 

The World Ganja Festival 2020 is divided into three zones, covering academic seminars, technological innovations and business negotiations, as well as local wisdom from each province. The event will also feature a product design competition and music festival.

 

The event organizers say the World Ganja Festival 2020 will create new opportunities and provide a better understanding of cannabis and its legal aspects.

Great idea,another step in the right direction.We need every bit of exposure we can get to show that ganja is good.Just keep stepping towards full legalisation.

At least on Soi 6 you can get your pipes cleaned. This is just a huge tease.

I hope it is successful, then they may consider hosting the World Road Safety Festival!

Maybe recreational use will get the same treatment prostitution receives in Pattaya.As long as the BiB get some of the action everything can be overlooked.

The title of this medical meetings of minds is misleading and unfortunately will put a maligned spin on this by many dinosaurs who still believe alcohol is the only drug that should be used contrary to the established facts. Unless a legislative action miracle occurs there are going to be many (recreational users) bitterly disappointed is they fly over for this like it's a full moon party.

They should invite Snoop Dogg as guest speaker to talk of it's relaxative "medicinal" qualities.

Makes me wonder what type of festival they're planning.

i’m guessing one of the panel discussions might be, “Appropriate Use of Paraquat in the Cultivation of Ganja.” ????

Latest news from UK on the drug front is from a place in the Midlands where addicts are starting today going to get free heroin ( free meaning on tax payers money ) so, you can start on ganja, move on to E then coke at your cost then go for heroin at everyone elses expense.

Thailand should keep an eye on that one.

The cost of heroin is very low when it s legal and regulated, it becomes very high when it s illegal and the price is an incentive to become drug dealer. The cost of giving heroin to addicts is much more lower than catching them and putting them in jail. So what you are doing in England is common sense.

By the way, cannabis doesn t lead you to cocaine and  heroin.

I didn't/don't pay tax in uk to support junkies life styles.

Don't care what happens to them. They started the habit themselves.

I understand, what I say is that it cost your tax money more to chase after them than just selling or giving them the stuff they need.

Perhaps a lot of the attendees will overstay....lol.

They obviously forgot to invite Canadians or they think we are American. We have legalized medical marijuana since 2001 and recreational since 2018. I guess we lack ideas. From this article it seems they only want country that has not yet legalized medical marijuana. 

 

BTW I went to the cannabis festival in Bangkok this year. It was the most boring I ever been too. No smell of marijuana on the horizon. It is a step in the right direction and I was proud to support them but still super boring.

I think things will be a bit better at this next one. I need Thai ganja Tshirts for my wardrobe anyway, which I would not wear in certain states I go to but its ok. They dont make you P in the USA, and if they want to search you can say No.
