BANGKOK (NNT) - The Transport Minister, Saksayam Chidchob, has instructed the Department of Land Transport to improve the quality of public transport services in response to public demand, and open social media channels for commuters to file complaints.

The Transport Minister observed the operations of the GPS Transport Management Center and the Public Passenger Protection Center, and delivered his work policy to high-ranking officials of the Department of Land Transport.

The department has been assigned to enhance the quality of public transport services, such as using digital technology to facilitate passenger movement. The department has also been tasked to determine measures to support public transport employees, reduce overlapping bus routes, upgrade the quality of public buses, promote the use of Skytrains and improve the level of safety.

To address the levels of particulate matter of 2.5 microns and less in diameter (PM2.5), the Department of Land Transport has to focus on the source of the emissions and improve the pollution inspection measures.

The Transport Minister also instructed the Department of Land Transport to open social media channels for people to file complaints, so relevant agencies can promptly address their problems.

I don't have and don't  want " social media channels " such as Facebook, Line , ... "

If the Transport Minister is a member of thaivisa he can  have a look at the photo under ...

Tackling microscopic particle pollution is very good; but to attack the maintenance of the coaches of lines and tourism would be much better;Photo taken a few days ago; we see very well that the rear tire right on the driving axle of this coach is worn up to the rope;rope that we see elsewhere!

Is there a police officer in Thailand able to stop a bus, like, for example, a "police toll" and check that the security organs of the coach are in good condition?

Yes, there are thousands of them; the problem is that most of them simply take a backhander and let the offender go. I really can't see it changing. Ever.

A crop of the photo to understand well;
the little seen of the right tire of the second axle carrier is in the same state.
It means that on wet road this car will leave in the decor because the rear of the vehicle will slide as on an ice rink.

That is why they want all the tourists to have healthcare insurance...

Even village in the poor parts of thailand have good sidewalks, only in BKK they won't build that.

And as always they will be eliminated without being read!

What good is the improvement of the means of recognition if, then nothing against it, will be done?

Nowhere to go but up. Bangkok buses are disgusting and the trains are crammed all the time and only getting worse. Where are the 6 car trains and more frequent runs?

It's like on a merry go round - around and around and around - you always land back exactly where you started i.e no progress, probems not solved, everybody doing what they like with absolutely zero consequences.

Yet, departments "giving orders" to do this or do that. Who follows up on these orders? Nobody! So, the orders are never/seldom implemented and the status quo continues. No progress. No improvements. Just the usual "mai bpen rai" attitude.

Precisely....

It's talk talk talk talk.... and do NOTHING!!!

Then a year or two from now, the next minister will hold his or her meeting to announce the same plans and goals...and the process will repeat itself.

--ban on people riding in the back of pickups -- rescinded.

--plan to replace minivans with micro buses -- rescinded.

--GPS in all public transport vehicles -- who knows.

--tailpipe smog inspections -- remain an extreme rarity.

--new BMTA bus acquisitions -- canceled and restarted so many times I've lost track.

etc etc etc.

I don't care if it's pm2.5 or not but the fumes from all those ancient buses are really bad for the air quality....those things are over 40 years old i bet, when will they just buy new ones from a good brand?
