Popular Post 147bluedog
Apparently all the Thai consulates in the UK will be closing sometime after June 2020 and the visa app requirements for visiting Thailand will be replaced with an online visa app system direct from BKK. The recent and very ambiguous online system that has been implemented through the London and other embassies may well be stopped and it is hoped the new procedure will be less complicated. One lives in hope. 1

147bluedog
Spoke to official at Cardiff consulate who told me that the consulates were indeed going and that a new online visa system would eventually transpire. I doubt he would be making it all up, what would be the point.
147bluedog
My apologies. Prob not closing consulates altogether but stopping the issuing of visas by appointment or otherwise. 1
UKresonant
So if that's the case I might just get one non-O SE from the consulate, before the system is in a state of flux again. Quite sad news. Now will we have to guess what the new system will require second half of next year.....

chilly07
So what happens to all the other consulate services they supply such as Thai passport renewals? This is not the UK Thai Embassy so I would expect a more responsible approach!

About all the can do is issue visas and offer limited notary services.

Not sure if there is one in Belfast. Birmingham has been defunct for years now. There is no consulate in Belfast, but the Dublin consulate comes under London, so (although not actually part of the UK) might be affected.
