Video: Insurance scammer caught on tape running in front of car

2pm_VID.jpg

Thai caption: Just learning how to do it

CCTV from Rama 9 Road in Bangkok at the weekend showed a clear case of someone trying to get away with an insurance scam.

A man is seen waiting to cross the road before he chooses the right moment to run in front of an approaching car.

The car manages to brake in time but the man hurls himself on the hood of the vehicle and then lies in a heap on the road surface clearly claiming dire injury.

The white car involved pulls over and stops and the driver is believed to have got out though the clip ends before that happens.

The footage recorded on Saturday was shared to Facebook from a Line group by Dec Potiapiyanwisut.

The poster said that such activity to try and get insurance money was now in Thailand.

Thaivisa has shown several of these cases in the country over the last few years.

But YouTube is full of such scammers - many in China and many who have been revealed as cheats by CCTV.

It is not known how this case was resolved, reported Sanook.

  • Like there aren't already uncountable problems to deal with while driving, now we've to deal with this kind of s*it as well..

  • Hopefully someone took a photo of the guy, and perhaps went through his pockets while he was 'injured' to find his ID card and photograph that too. Put it online along with this video.

That oxygen thief should be charged and thrown in jail.

He could have caused a serious accident if the driver had swerved to avoid hitting him. As if driving in Thailand isn’t bad enough without having to worry about selfish, lowlife, dip<deleted>s like this.

There are a lot easier scams in Thailand, than throwing

yourself in front of a car,he needs to try the romance

scam,less dangerous.

I think it must have been his first try,as he did not just

get it right, waiting for the car to stop then throwing

yourself on it !

This scam has been going on in the UK and other European countries for years.

I am surprised that it has taken so long to get here.

Now lets see him try it with a truck

I think it's migrated to Thailand with the Chinese tourists. Here's how it should be done.

Surely she was just tired and fancied a nap.

Justice will be served when the car owner's insurance company pursues the idiot for whatever damage he caused to the front end.

I have fitted 2 pair of additional horns to my pick up.

On the rare occasions when I do use the horn it is VERY LOUD.

Anyone trying that trick on me would not have stayed by the front of the car for very long.

Basic must have car accessories for Thailand:-

Dash Cam front and rear

Reversing camera (not to run over little old grandmas)

Extra loud horn set.

If you have a pickup one of those front fitted RooBar sets is usefull for nudging without cracking your own plastic bumper.

I would have loved to have seen the big truck flatten him shorty after.

As it was, he was unlucky not to get mowed down by  the scooter that was haring up the footpath before he tried his dumb trick!

I like the 'Russian' cams where the scam attempt is made and a big unit of a bloke gets out the the car and proceeds to kick the living daylights out of the scammer !!!

A Dash-Cam is a must when driving your car these days.

I'd like to see this guy charged - he so very nearly caused an accident, innocent people could have easily been hurt as a direct result of his actions.

A car swerving to avoid him could have hit another car, or knocked a motorcycle off etc..

More than that in Russia. This is why everybody has dashcam there.

Next time try with a train...

But the driver of the car is the lady in the long dress, she came from the same direction as the car when it went to park. What an idiot

Where are those drunk hit and run drivers when you need them!

When living in China I’d go to my friends house and sit on his balcony watching a guy do this almost every weekend. Funniest

thing when a policeman came tslkddto the guy stood him up

and bitch slapped him a couple of times and the guy left....

I guess the most Russians are no scammers. They are only completely drunk.

That poor girl, unnecessary trauma.

Too bad that cement truck didn't run him over.

Have read a few of your past comments.  Just out of interest, where did you learn such poor use of English grammar and punctuation, because you certainly do not think as you state.

'nuf sed.
