Chiang Mai University’s waste-management technology in full swing

GRAYS, England (Reuters) - Police investigating the deaths of 39 people in a truck near London said they had arrested three more suspects on Friday on suspicion of human trafficking amid signs that some of the dead may be Vietnamese.

(Reuters) - California firefighters on Friday sought to take advantage of a lull in winds to gain ground on a pair of fast-moving wildfires, including one that has forced the evacuation of about 50,000 residents in suburbs north of Los Angeles.

Thai Lion acquires its first A330 Neo

Thai Lion Air has added its first A330 Neo aircraft into its fleet to strengthen its operations. Aswin Yangkirativorn, the airline’s chief executive officer, said on Friday (October 25) that the new aircraft serves the airline’s plan to boost the number of flights and expand routes.

NGO offers help on Twitter to people prone to suicide

The Samaritans of Thailand, a non-government organisation (NGO) for the prevention of suicide, has launched hashtag #ThereIsHelp on Twitter with notification for people with mental health issues who may search for topics and messages related to “suicide” or “self-harm”. It allows mental health experts to listen to their problems and give advice.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Convicted Russian agent Maria Butina was released from a Florida prison on Friday after serving most of her 18-month sentence for conspiring to influence U.S. conservative activists and infiltrate a powerful gun rights group, and taken into custody by immigration officials to be deported to her native country.

US countered on call for delay of agro-chemical ban

Vitoon Leanjamroon, director of BioThai Foundation, has countered the call by US Agricultural Department for a delay on the ban on agro-chemical glyphosate. The US agency said the ban would disrupt Thailand’s import of soybean, wheat, coffee, apples, grapes and other agricultural produce, worth up to Bt51 billion annually, from the US and other trading partners.

400 workers laid off as their tyre canvas factory closes

About 400 workers have been laid off, effective today (Friday), after the of SRF Industries (Thailand) Company’s tyre canvas production plant, in the Map Taput industrial estate in Thailand’s eastern province of Rayong, closed down due to operating losses accrued during the current economic slowdown.

The financial product has received good feedback from many prospective home buyers, who will be charged only an average of 2.5% interest over the first 3 years of repayments. The bank is aiming to approve a total of 50 billion baht in loans by the first quarter of 2020.
