There are a lot of things I like about Thailand. That's why I am here. Unfortunately, it is unlikely Thailand's road safety will be one of them during my lifetime.

Idem for me ;

During nearly 40 years I was a trucker all over Europe countries ;

went to Poland, Ukrainia , to Portugal and south of Italy , in the " boot  " ...

I did about 150,000 km every year = about 6 million km

I saw some accidents , surely less than 20 ...

Was involved in one on road n*4 in France  , a two lanes rd at that time ( 1974 ) with my semi trailor ;

the insurance and the police told me not responsible .

I'm living in Sakon Nakhon province ( Issan ) since nearly 15 years ;

There is not as much traffic in this province as in the provinces of Bangkok or Chonburi, and yet ....

I saw , only in my province , in less than 15 years more accidents than in 40 years in Europe ;

Yinn , Can you explain me  why ?

40 years ago we didn't have modern vehicules as they exist now; no ABS no disk brakes ;

But 40 years ago we already had a real road police ;

we already had tachymeters on all vehicles over 3,5 tons ( trucks and coaches )

and our roads were made with rocks and little stones not sand and red ground as they are made all over  Thailand .
