Visa on arrival

Featured Replies

Hi,

just a a quick question,

uk citizen married to Thai national.

ive been visiting Thailand for the last 10 years approx 4 times per year.

recently been hearing the stories about people being turned away at immigration as entering Thailand to many times on visa on arrivals.

when I recently entered Thailand end of last month it took a lot longer at immigration with the lady officer looking over all my entry/exit stamps and counting them.

my question is are the reported stories of people getting turned away true and if so what would be the best visa option to get for this.I don’t intend staying any longer than the 30 days allowed at one time.

any advice would be great Thanks.

You are not entitled to get a Visa on Arrival.

Only available for certain countries.

Costs money and gives a stay of 15 days.

You are asking about a Visa Exempt Entry.

They are getting a lot more strict about people living here without the correct Visa.

Tourist Visa or Non Imm O Visa would be a better option if making many visits.

I assume that you are flying in.

My experience with BA is that they will inspect your passport .

If you were not allowed admission into Thailand then the carrier -would have to return you.

I assume in your case to UK

I am sure that  you will be ok

Thailand must be happy if tourists visit Thailand 6 times a year.

The problem occurs when you leave Thailand via a land exit and return the same day. That they do not like and limit the use of this 'Visa Run'approach.

Suspect that the lady officer was checking that you were not doing visa runs

It not about the number of 30 day visa exempt entries (it is not a visa on arrival) to the country. It is more about the amount of total time spent on them.

Your 4 short trips per year are not really that big of a problem. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

OP, 4 visa exempt entries 30 days each would be walk in the park. If all were extended then that would be 8 months per year. Depends how long you spend in los. If its the latter then you should obtain correct visa. Not difficult

Hi,

thanks for the replies,

yes sorry i meant visa visa exempt entries rather than visa on arrival,

i usually go every 3 months for about an average of 16 to 20 days so hopefully as stated in above posts shouldn’t be a problem, just didn’t want to get turned back at airport.

i will also look into the tourist visa as mentioned in one of the replies.

thanks again.
