Yabiaomer
Greetings .. A friend came to visit me and I gave him to drive my motobike for one day. That was last month. He is already back home, but I received yesterday a letter from the police - a traffic ticket with a photo attached and a 400 baht fine. One can obviously see that the driver is NOT me. So, should I pay the ticket or claim that it's not me? As I said, it's obvious from the photo that I'm not the driver and not on the motobike. Another question: if I choose to pay the ticket, where do I pay it? Thanks for any inspirational comment.
Popular Post bkk6060
Go to the Police Traffic Division and plead your case. Then, expect to pay the fine. 5

CNXexpat
3 possibilities. 1. You pay and collect the money from your friend. 2. You complain, say it´s not you, perhaps don´t have to pay but give the friend´s name and address to the police. For sure they will not send him the ticket but maybe he will get a problem if he´ll come back to Thailand. 3. You do nothing and wait what will happen You can transfer the money or go to the police station near the Warorot market. I don´t know the address.
Popular Post flare
It probably doesn't matter who the operator was as the ticket will be attached to your registration- you'll have to either pony up now or when you renew it. I would think the way people share bikes and cars here that it's a pretty common occurrence and wouldn't expect the cops to do anything about it.
Popular Post Thailand
Pay it, the registration it is in your name? Pay at most Post Offices. If you don't pay you won't be able to renew the licence. Edited November 8, 2019 by Thailand
Popular Post donnacha
If it can be paid online, email your friend the details along with the photo. If he does not pay it, you have learned something truly valuable about your friend.

kwak250
400 baht not worth the hassle after all you gave him the keys. If it was when you serviced a car and they took it for a spin that would be different. Edited November 9, 2019 by kwak250 spalingz

easydoor
You want to make an argument for 400THB? I would not. Pay the bill, go home sit in a corner and cry for the lost of this amount. Became farangs so poor they have to make a case about this?
NightSky
If you complain to the police maybe they will fine you for allowing a tourist to operate your bike without insurance to ride it.. and potentially with no helmet.. neung pan baht krup ???? Lacessit
Pay at any KrungThai Bank. Contact your friend with a copy of the fine and photo. If he doesn't reimburse you, he is not a friend, just a user.

The OP was presumably referring to a difference in physical appearance, e.g. a lardass vs a skinny guy. paahlman
Law is pretty straightforeward.. It is the owner of the bike that is liable so if that is you it doesnt matter who drove. 1

Popular Post richard_smith237
Op: Don't pay the fine... see if you get charged the fine when you next pay your tax renewal. If, when it comes time to pay your tax renewal and there is no fine you can drive around like a crazed madman, breaking all speed-limits you like safety in the knowledge that a fine is unlikely !!! 1 1
