Bad taste in the mouth 2-3 days

Featured Replies

I have experienced a bad taste in my mouth for the past few days. It goes away from a few mins after brushing teeth and then comes back.

I wouldn't necessary describe it as 'metallic', just more a bad taste.

I understand that it can be related to medications. I did take a couple of ibuprofen a couple of nights ago, but nothing since.

There is quite a sore part of my gum right at the back of my mouth, where it feels almost like a tooth pushing through. Could the two things be related? Can anyone recommend ways to get rid of the taste?

Cheers

I would recommend getting a blood test to confirm your kidney function.

The metallic/bad taste taste in your mouth may be related to chronic kidney disease.

Pay attention to the eGFR/Creatinine levels of your blood test. Good luck!

Well I am mid 30s, pretty good shape, and I haven't experienced any other symptoms... chronic kidney disease?!!... really?

Since you are young, healthy, not on any medications and have some gum tenderness I'd start with a dentist.

Thanks for the good advice as always.

Take Sheryl's advice.

Personally, it sounds to me like you might have an abscessed tooth. But heh, I'm not a dentist.
