Farangs can't get employment in their own countries as Asian English students taking jobs for below legal award wages...

I find it interesting reading the article on the crackdown of foreigners working with no work permit and the alleged begpackers...the latter story of which I know to be not entirely correct nor a true account of Spiros and Lee's case, as I shared an immigration detention cell with them and was privy to conversations with their lawyer.

I was in detention through my own stupidity and an overstay.

Not a particularly nice place to be, so have well learnt my lesson.

Now back in Australia I face the unenviable task of securing work. Which will no doubt be made harder due to the high increase of foreign students that are working above and beyond the hours legally allowed on their visas.

This is not uncommon, in actual fact ... it's rife!

Many of whom are Thai nationals coming to Australia to studu english with the dream of making some good money to go home with.

More often than not,any work so many hours that their attendance rating is poor and teeter on being expelled due to this. Many go home with no better grasp of english language skills either, I'm afraid to say.

Often they are working 2-3 times more hours allowed per month. And might i add for a third of what they are legally entitled to by employers.

Maybe its time that something is done about it here as far as more stringent monitoring and if their own citizens are locked up under the same type of conditions, maybe the Thai officials would have a different take on things.

I surely do now!

So, it is the employers who are responsible for providing works to people who don't have work permits.

I feel the force of a dark side troll...

If the OP is competing with foreign college students for jobs, I'd suggest a different career choice.  Gain some skills that will allow you to seek jobs that aren't open to kids.

Bonus...  Not only will you not have to worry about low wage competition, you'll get paid more.

This topic about foreign students working in Australia is off topic in the forum for visas and work permits in Thailand.
