It is most defiinitely a groaner but I wanted to do a couple of jokes in the style of Lybia115 who had (has?) appalling jokes but never gave up. I used to read them and worked out the key to his joke was the better the title line ie "this is a joke that will have you in stitches" the worse the actual joke.

The actual joke itself must be at least 40 years old - I remember it as a kid but I thought it would probably only be understood by the English and Australians, where topping oneself was a fairly common phrase

Pleased you liked it but I promise to avoid doing any more like it in the near future
