To be fair, that's a pretty serious factual error. Can you not edit your original post to correct this?

He thinks Tokyo is one third of the distance to NK than Seoul is.  Seoul isn't 100 km or 300 km from NK. Anybody that has been to Seoul and taken a tour of the DMZ knows this. Slip of the keyboard or not it is hard to find an unlikely scenario that would be the result of a typo.

Quick web search will tell you the distance from Seoul to NK is 56 Km and the distance from Tokyo is 736 km.

They have at least 20 so let’s say they hit s Korea with 5 and 10 on japan the death toll would be in the millions the worlds economies in upheaval many would die of cancer  later from the fallout and yes North Korea would be destroyed at what cost? Better to blockade let the North Korean populace know what’s going on in the outside world let them take care of Kim and company(ponyang is 799 miles from Tokyo)

You are assuming things backwards. They could do 15 on SK and maybe one on Japan. They don't have the missile launching capacity to deliver that many nukes to Japan. Also Japan has an airforce consisting of 373 jet fighters that would have heat seeking missiles and laser guided technologies they simply do not disclose.

Nk has no air force with in two hours or less Japan would dominate the skies and pin down any potential launch positions in NK. Nothing in the hermit kingdom can move without a satellite seeing it these days. It's basically known with in a few miles where NK keeps its weapons.

There would not be a single road left in the country. And all of this assumes Japan had to fight it out alone without the USA.

The utter ignorance on this thread thinking that Japan and South Korea haven't practiced this scenario for two decades is astounding. Of course Japan doesn't have any nukes. wink wink. You would have to be utterly obtuse to believe a nation such as Japan with the nuclear facilities they have doesn't have a plan for this.

I’m not sure of Japan’s attack capabilities but I was reading an article on their defence systems a year or so back developed from the constraints placed on them from WW2, and they were considered to be second to none. Certainly with a well known family of nutcases in their back yard for a few decades

and their technical ability it is understandable that they would have well developed systems.

So long as you continue to think that Tokyo is closer to Nk than Seoul is...

I never thought that japan is closer to Korea than Korea but if understanding was your strong point you would had understood the point of my reply and not get hung up on a typo.

Good luck to you , You are going to need it.

It was not a factual error it is a typing error, anyone with half a brain should understand it. But then again anyone with half a brain would understand that regardless of  100km or 1000km  it is not a good idea to use nuclear weapons near you. or for that matter anywhere.

This is true and if Japan were attacked they would scale up their military insanely fast. The Japanese were a formidable foe in WW2. The whole premise that the USA would abandon Japan is flawed to begin with but my scenario of Japan going it alone stands. The war would be over in several hours. There would be no quarter given.

Seoul would take the brunt of it and respond. An hour or less later the Japanese would be staging attacks to deliver hell to the already weakened NK positions.

Speaking of ignorance:

North Korea tests submarine-capable missile fired from sea

And how many seconds does it take from the time Kim presses the button until a missile launches? Enough time to level such a site? Seems unlikely.

I just looked up the composition of the Japanese Air Force. It seems to have zero bombers.

So are they going to kamikaze the North Koreans into submission?

Bear in mind the DPRK are more than aware of satellite activities and do have a large number of underground facilities. There is talk of shelters, runways and entire factories down there.
