Boom on Bangla spooks tourists as overload sees power meters explode

PHUKET:-- The sound of a loud explosion unsettled tourists on Bangla Rd in Patong this afternoon (Dec 3) as a power overload saw several electricity meters short out and start a small fire in one of the bars on the busy street.

Gourmet Market introduces stand-alone branches

Govt launches new tax deduction scheme for long-term investment in mutual funds

Tax deductions will be applied between 2020 and 2024, after that the Finance Ministry will review the deductions, Finance Minister Uttama Savanayana said.

 

The government has launched a so-called super savings fund (SSF) aimed at encouraging people to invest in long-term mutual funds by offering tax deductions of up to 30 per cent of annual income.

Cabinet extends period for storm victims to receive money

The cabinet has extended the period of help to victims of the Podul and Kajiki storms.  With a budget of Bt2.09 billion, the government will give Bt5,000 per household to people in 32 provinces until March 31, extending the period from November 25, deputy spokeswoman Ratchada Thanadirek said on Tuesday (December 3).

Nod to tax waiver on Bt1,000 handout, 'cash back'

The Cabinet today (December 3) approved the Finance Ministry's proposed regulations to waive personal income tax on the financial privileges given to registered consumers, under the government's economic stimulus package "Eat, Shop, Spend".
