Easy enough to stroll into hotels / guesthouses to check rooms out Thailand-of-old style? I'm under the impression tourist numbers are still strong that time of the year here regardless of the Chinese presence. There are plenty of rooms avaliable. I just checked out a room this evening, and there were plenty to just walk into, and pay on a week to week, or month to month basis.
Kaoboi Bebobp 2083
A month later . . . Are the tourist (i.e., Chinese) numbers down now? Was thinking about taking up a month's residence in SR in order to get up to speed on new services and developments, and get a reading on the look and feel of the place since I was last there. Is Rosy's Guesthouse still operating? I know the original family sold it several years ago. Was a good place to stay with good food.

There are less Chinese around than there was a week ago during Chinese New Year, but there are some still about especially around the main tourist areas. I don't know about Rosy's Guesthouse.
