unamazedloso
Lucky Bangkok! Where i am its always much worse than this. Government doesnt give a hoot! They got fancy airconditioners and chauffeur driven pope style vans and such so it dont bther them. Actualy bit of a human rights abuse if you ask me. Im a farmer and KNOW nothing needs to burnt yet here we are. Add in the diesels and crazy rubbish burners and you got paradise.. no wonder tourists dont wana be here. We have been sleeping with pm2.5 masks on the last fee days but this in itself is not healthy so thanks thailand. who needs oxygen anyway?.....I guess thats one thing that cant be sold to the Chinese. TeaMonkey
This pollution is now getting consistent for most of the year which is worrying for the long term health implications. It's effecting most of Thailand and Hua Hin is just as bad as Bangkok. The only places with cleaner air at the moment are south of Surat Thani. I think there is a lot subtle burning right now. It was bad in Trat last week. I could see some fires near the road.
Jimbo2014
TAT should take a leaf out of Hong Kongs book. Pollution can help attract tourists with some creative thinking ????

mickey rat
Air quality in Thailand along with quality of life has gone to hell and it's only going to get worse. The citizenry has no right to clean air, expats at least have a choice.

spidermike007
The real question is, is the feckless administration doing anything whatsoever, to combat this issue, which is at near catastrophic levels? Anything at all? Are they offering any incentives, or alternatives to get the sugar cane farmers to stop their horrific burning? Are they doing anything to discourage the purchase of diesel vehicles? Are they making any headway toward the conversion of diesel power plants? Just what are they doing, besides collecting revenue and issuing bogus proclamations? Oddly the joggers at lampini park seem to be totally unaware.
