OK got a message from Rabbit Line Pay:-

Rabbit LINE Pay
Dear valued customer
As your ID address is inconsitent with your nationality.
Please edit it to your real full ID address in Rabbit LINE Pay within 7 days to continuously use the service
by following these steps.
1. Rabbit LINE Pay
2. Settings
3. My info
4. ID Address

Any inquiry please contact Rabbit LINE Pay Contact Center Tel. 02-026-3779 or contact-cc.line.me.
Check it out on your mobile device.

Did as instructed and found a bunch of new information required:-

  1. Nationality.
  2. Nationality Address.
  3. Residential Address.
  4. Employment Address.

So, I entered my nationality, pick from a list, of course the list isn't in any sort order I could understand.

Enter my UK address - can't enter letters for postcode so they got 1234567890

Of course both the other addresses are now the same as the UK (I'm not sure if I entered a residential address when I set it up). At least there's a decent post-code search for Thai postcodes.

You also have to fill in all the boxes or it won't move on.

One assumes this is another anti-money laundering directive.

I got the very same notice just a day or two ago.  I entered my local Bangkok address in the Residential section, and it automatically filled it in for the other two sections: Nationality address and Employment address (and I am retired, so not employed, so...?).  The notice demanded the address as on the ID, which is my passport (US) and which does not list any address (and I no longer have one, anyway.  I'd have to "borrow" a friend's address or use an old family address).  I've been using Rabbit Line Pay quite a lot for several months now and it is linked to my local credit card, which, of course uses my local Bangkok address, which is the only "real" address I have now.

Aiyaa!  So, now I guess we just wait to see what surprises are in store for us.

Yeah this is another PITA from Line Pay.  When it works it's great but their customer service sucks. I keep getting these bloody messages about changing my ID address to match my nationality, hard since the only address I have is in Thailand.  Must have messaged them 10 times from the app using the Contact Us tab explaining I only have an address here so what address do they want.  Just get the same blurb spouted back in the reply email from them time after time.  I think either it's an automated service and nothing will come of it or all the bloody staff are idiots and can't read (and yes the message has been sent in Thai and English).  If I didn't use for the BTS I'd bin Line Pay altogether.  For now I'll just keep max 100 baht in LINE Pay then if it stops working I'll just delete LINE altogether I think.

This is what came back from them thus time:

How to update your ID address for verification :
1. Go to > LINE Application > "Wallet" > "Rabbit LINE Pay"
2. Please select "Settings" menu > "My Info"
3. Please update ID address with details of location from your country and then go to change about Postal code before.
*if there is any alphabet in your postal code, please skip it and fill in only the number

We apologize for any inconvenience caused

Again, thank you for using our services, and please let us know if you need any additional assistance.

Clearly they can't cope with any answer to their systems that goes off script, get someone with a half a brain to design the app would be better!  Not everyone has an address in the country they were born any more.  It's a big wide world out there.  Muppets.

They don't actually check anything, just use a friend's address back home and they will go away.

Yeah.  I'm actually thinking of just making one up!  It's easier than trying to make anyone there see any sense or use their brain.
