The faces of Mae Sot

Just some photos from before I broke my cell phone. I've always enjoyed photography and hope to get a camera someday so I can blog about everything I see!

There's alot of beauty in ordinary things. I'm not sure if I forgot that somewhere along the way or if I just never knew.

People spend their lives chasing extraordinary moments so much that they miss out on the beauty in the ordinary ones I guess.

Walk around your village or town and what you find may surprise you. Mae Sot is a very unique, and very beautiful place in its own right. I've never been to such a multi cultural part of Thailand before. The mix of Thai's, Karen, Burmese and various hill tribes give this town a feel all its own.

Great photos. Sad that rural Thailand is losing the country feel that you have documented. The village I lived near was almost like a large Thai town, rather than a rural village, but I loved the rice paddies that had probably been there since people first moved to the area. Mechanisation is changing them to larger fields though, and a way of life is fast vanishing. Do any still use buffalo to plough?

The Burmese here do, I have seen them use Buffalo to pull down trees as well. Most of the Thai's here have employed Burmese and Karen workers and It's rare to see any Thai's doing labor work at all here truthfully

One great disincentive to do so in LOS is the presence of vicious soi dogs.

I got bit by a dog that apparently had rabies once in BKK my 3rd trip in Thailand lol. Years back, Was a situation where you didn't have to be the fastest guy there, just faster than the one behind you. Unfortunately I was like 16 and much slower than the other Nak Muay out jogging and I was trailing behind and got my leg chomped on. Was quite a situation with meds and needles and tests, especially when I returned to Canada. Thought I was going to get quarantined somewhere until they were sure I would not turn feral or something.
