WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Donald Trump became the third U.S. president to be impeached on Wednesday, as the House of Representatives formally charged him with abuse of power in a historic step that will inflame partisan tensions across a deeply divided America.

It's painful watching this farce live. Schiff is like a deflated balloon, all the fight has left him. He is running on automatic pilot. The Republicans on the other hand are energized. I suppose they

But you'r ok with trump's daily parody, very strange way to view.

After months of complaining the Republicans will now have a chance to show the American people what a fair trial looks like.

Pelosi has a great future as a stand up comedienne. Probably be better at it than as a politician.

And yet Trump is now impeached.  I'd call that a success. BTW, Trump is the first and only president so far to be impeached during his first term.

Looking for to seeing Trump, Mulvaney, Perry, Pompeo and Bolton taking the oath and swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth without bursting into laughter.

In short..We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office who does his own interests in terms of cheating and lying constantly to the public as well as abusing of his power in office, instead of doing the country’s interests, simply disgraceful ! ????????‍♂️

As for those biased misleading living in denial corrupted Reps who sold their soul to defend that illiterate corrupted blowhard punk, hence don’t expect a reward when serving the wicked.. IMPEACHED !

As a registered Independent I supported his Impeachmant. Loved watching the final votes. Forever history will remember trump as Impeached.

History will remember his impeachment as long as it remembered Clinton's.

In my recollection only because Starr didn't work fast enough and they had to do it in his second term.

Anyway, only 2 presidents been impeached before, which hardly makes that significant. Perhaps you just like using the bold.

Looking forward to seeing Biden and his son being questioned about Hunter's involvement in the Ukraine, along with the whistleblower.

Meanwhile Trump is getting votes in Michigan. The dems are way too obsessed and it is going nowhere. The dems have gone down in the polls in the only states it matters.

The line of the night was that "Chuck Schumer used to kiss my ass" lol Nice speech Trump gave.

embarrassing themselves?

embarrassing the US of A I'd rather say

the term failed state comes to mind - national assembly fighting head of state by legal means

gosh

Indeed. And fighting with maybe not so legal means a la FBI whose integrity has gone down the drain rapidly.

Ignoring the rights and wrongs of Tump, it seems the Democrats have been clutching at any straws they can bend and anything they could find to seize on for an impeachment. Aided by certain law enforcement agencies who have broke laws in their eagerness.

Failed state - good job the American people have their precious second amendment rights. All enemies - foreign and Domestic!

It is a sad thing to see any failed US President, but one can only look on and realize that Trump and his enablers brought it upon themselves. The simple fact is that rules and laws aren't really that difficult to follow, and the US President has almost unlimited support available to assist; it was lazy-ass behaviour that brought Trump to this.

The really, really sad part is that it was unnecessary; Trump could have taken the high road.

Imagine if...
  • As a legislative starting point, Trump decided to go for an Infrastructure bill rather than trying to repeal Obamacare. He could have used the 'Bully Pulpit' against both Democrats and Republicans to sponsor and see enacted a compromise which straddled the 'political middle' and side-lined the extremists in both parties.
  • Upon a successful Infrastructure bill, he could have brokered a compromise for the 'Dreamers' in return for some kind of border security package.
  • Building on two successful legislative victories, a compromise on revenue-neutral tax reform might have been achieved, rather than the blow-job give-away to the rich that occurred.
  • Next, there was/is broad agreement/support for a bill dealing with pharmaceuticals and drug companies; creating and passing legislation, especially on the heels of a victory or two, would gave been child's play.
  • ObamaCare was essentially Bob Dole's health care plan from the nineties and Mitt Romney's healthcare plan from his Massachusetts Governorship, so that could have garnered bi-partisan support for refocus, repair (with a good amount of backing and support from Trump) and been reformed.
  • A bi-partisan budget deal, sponsored and brokered by Trump, could have bypassed the outliers and garnered support across the middle, thus averting the ballooning, horribly unsustainable monstrosity of a debt that the US has now.
  • There are several other issues in US politics where the two parties aren't really that far apart (in terms of policy and ideas) and more areas could have been brokered with an 'Independent-minded' President who governed as an 'outsider' rather than a hyper-partisan Republican.
It is truly a remarkable thing to say, but had Trump opted for unity, forcing and cajoling the parties to cooperate, and working together with Congress rather than promoting partisanship, strife and disunity, I think he could have been a GREAT President who broke the partisan deadlock and got Washington 'working again'. It could have been 'Leadership' for the ages.

Yes, those who know my posts know my feelings about Trump (Er... I do not like him), but a decision going the other way at the start of his Presidency could have, in my view, yielded great things; he was in a unique position as one 'above' politics who was going to get deals done in spite of the politics and politicians.

He could have done wonders.

But, instead, any and all mentions in future history books will forever begin 'Impeached President Donald Trump...'

What a sad waste.

What is really sad is you trying to pretend that there would have been any kind of good will from the dems who were dead set on resistance from the start.

There is no doubt that Paul Ryan was a failure as speaker. But pretending to be sad when the current speaker accused the potus of a cover up right before a meeting on infrastructure, you must be insane to think that any compromise or cooperation was feasible is laughable.

This farce will end up in a hilarious backfire and another term. How ignorant and arrogant these stooges are.

What is it with you base Trump supporters and the expression of opinions? You express them constantly on this forum (sometimes trying to make them more credible by linking to nutter websites:clap2:) but when "mainstream" people do it you're all over them like Trump on a beauty pageant contestant!

Hilary was never president.I have no love lost for Hillary , is she was president and as bad as trump I would want her out also.  and If there was anything to Bident the republicans would have used it.

This is not about who is good or bad, the system has a way of weeding out the good. This is all about how bad, the bad are allowed to be.

All that we get ,and complain about ,is all that we have allowed to happen, if this is allowed expect things to  get much much worst.

Eh?

"Yes we do express our opinion."

So why are you having issues with mainstream posters expressing theirs?

"And leftists like yourselves tell us how ignorant we are for having a different opinion and information sources that don't agree with you"

Information sources I don't agree with? You should rather write "information sources reality doesn't agree with".

Sometimes yes if your sources are totally worthless, like Infowars, etc.

Because you state opinions as "informed" factual reference while you have the opposite actions against those who disagree with yours.

Fortunately, you are not the arbiter of who is a reliable source and never will be. Your opinion is not worth more than anyone else's. Although you make a point of telling us that it is.
