The point is that getting away with something previously doesn't mean guaranteed forever. I wouldn't hide the certificate to keep it safe from theft and assume that'll do in every case. I do like the idea above of making a (good) copy and displaying that while keeping the original safely stowed. Might do that for next year. Theyll say youre counterfeiting then

Nope, comparable to carrying photocopy of passport, verified as acceptable quite some time ago. And you have the original; they'll understand the problem and might even approve. Moreover, it's common to carry copies of the motorbike book rather than the original. But if you think so, then don't do it. ????
