NACC holds anti-corruption seminar

BANGKOK (NNT) - The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has organized an annual seminar for state enterprises to share anti-corruption knowledge and experience.

At the seminar, the Secretary-General of the Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand (ACT), Mana Nimitmongkol, delivered a speech on overcoming barriers to effective governance in Thailand.

Mr. Mana discussed an alleged forest land encroachment case by Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP) MP Pareena Kraikupt and media shareholding regulations in connection with members of parliament (MPs) and senators.

He said the purpose of the law is to make sure that lawmakers are clean and trustworthy, but it is not possible in reality because there are legal loopholes. Although the country already has a national strategy and a national reform plan, public participation is essential to improve governance.

The ACT Secretary-General said the government was able to save more than 74 billion baht, or 30.04%, of its budget, following the initiation of an "integrity pact" to help ensure transparency and competition in government contracts since 2015.

All sectors must demonstrate their commitment to good governance. To achieve good governance, all direct stakeholders have to contribute and all agencies must work in an open and transparent manner.

The NACC can hold as many silly waste of time seminars they want, wont change a damn thing.

Corruption will carry on unabated.

would have loved it if Prawit had got up to do a speech.

More running about trying to look as if they're doing something useful/serious.

Keystone Kops.

I'll believe the government is serious when a few senior soldiers or ex-soldiers are in the dock. Until then it's just hot air.

Who said there is no such thing as a free lunch.  Seminars are organised weekly so self-important people can blather nonsense and EAT.

Nothing changes - only their waist-line.

So, 30% of its budget previously went on bribes ? Where are the charges and claiming back of the money ?

Well the lawmakers should enact laws to close the loopholes,

BUT then they would be cutting off their own noses,so life goes

on.

Happy Christmas , regards Worgeordie

Should teach them how not to get caught

Or, will the organizers and speakers be charged with holding this seminar and for discussion which is destructive to thainess?
