In general it's a holiday: https://thainews.prd.go.th/en/news/detail/TCATG191031095853544

But it also says:

If certain agencies are obliged to serve the public on December 30 and their services cannot be postponed, heads of these agencies are responsible for taking action that is deemed appropriate and which does not result in damage to the government or the general public.

So if you want to be 100% sure you better call them and ask.

They will be closed. Some offices have already posted notices about it.

Immigration is certainly not one of those agencies other than at airports and border crossings.

The 30th is a holiday. Immigration will be closed until the 2nd.

It was made a holiday by the cabinet a month or two ago.

Thanks, I tried calling them but no answer.

Are they open today? My visa runs out tomorrow and I cannot get there today, will I get charged overstay If I go to extend when they reopen on the 2nd?

Open today.

No overstay fine if you go on the 2nd due to your permit to stay ending on a day that immigration is closed. After the 2nd you would pay 500 baht for every day.

Hmm if he is having an extension of stay, and shows up too late, than I think he have to start all over again, and leave the country and as said start all over...

Not if it expires when a immigration office is closed.

Many people have applied for an extension with an overstay and were able to get it after paying the overstay fine.

I have an appointment for dec 30, to show my bank book, so they better be open.

Certainly in Jomtien they are ok showing them the book the next working day. Mine was stamped for a Saturday and of course I had to go on the Monday.

You just show your bank book January 2. There will be no problem what so ever.

I am confused as to if the Thai immigration office is closed on the 30th December as it’s over the Christmas holidays, are they open or not on this date? Thanks

30th is listed as a national holiday but government owned KTB will be open, so i'm also confused

Not all holidays are bank holidays. The Bank Of Thailand publishes a list of bank holidays. Additional holidays set by the cabinet are often not bank holidays.

Here is the one for 2020. https://www.bot.or.th/English/FinancialInstitutions/FIholiday/Pages/2020.aspx

"Chiang mai imm  is open every day, all holidays and weekends included"

That's not correct. They are closed on national holidays same as every immigration office.

I guess you missed this in his post.

They evidently have people that would be there anyway doing them.

I posted my 90 day report through the IMM app on 27 December @ 16.32 and it shows status as "Pending". My partner did his just before mine, at around 16.15 and received his confirmation by email immediately. Do you suppose IMM just closed at 16.30?

By the by, the reason mine took so long was that every time I tried to key in my GPS by either registered address or by Google map icon, the programme immediately brought me back to the beginning and I had to re-enter all the data again, (several times). So in the end I left the location section blank, and filed the report, and it was accepted....albeit "pending".

Anyway, I have the TRN (transaction reference number) and a barcode, so presumably I'm good to go? It's due by 3 January, and I'd dearly love not to have to visit Chaengwattana in person. Is there a grace period, in case?

Probably.

You will likely get the approval or disapproval on the 2nd.

The grace period is the "due date" + 7 days. So,if your report fails, you still have a lot of time to report in person.

Yes, approved today at around 11 am today, so I'm relieved no visit required to Chaengwattana.
