Police and fire services were called to a plastics factory at the Mangkorn Thong Industrial estate in Nong Yai district of Chonburi yesterday evening.

Fire broke out as staff were preparing to leave for the New Year break.

Whipped up by winds it took hold in the first of ten warehouses and spread to a second at the 100 rai facility.

Twenty engines battled the blaze but there were no reports of death or injury.

Damage is estimated to be at least 30 million baht.

A short circuit is the most likely reason at this stage, reported Daily News.
