Video: Don't do it kids! Mock drama/comedy film has a serious level crossing message.

A video posted on the site of Thai Rath online had both comic and serious elements.

The video - along with some dramatic music - came with the simple tagline:

"Thai kids remember this well....don't cross the barrier at a level crossing".

The video features dash cam footage from a car with a running commentary from the driver after he sees a person on a motorcycle go through the barrier and get trapped on the other side of the tracks.

"Are you drunk mate?" he begins. Then as the foul language beeps begin - and the train approaches - he asks:

"Do you wanna kill yourself?"

"You're gonna die...die!"

As the tension mounts and the train passes slowly the motorcyclist survives.

Then comes the warnings from the media: Remember that this is a serious offence punishable by a fine.

You could be fined 500 baht!

But if you cause an accident resulting in death or injury the State Railway of Thailand would prosecute you.

And that could mean a 20,000 baht fine and 10 years in jail.

Yeah, that's a real deterrent, NOT!!!

Only if the officer got off his fat backside and took some details.

I see this at the 3 railway crossings multiple times every day very close to my home, a train is approaching, the guardrail comes down, it doesn't reach across the road fully, people go around the barrier form both sides, and ignore the lights, alarm and barrier. They look... trains a few hundred metres away no problem go go go.

Officer stands there with his radio in hand.... doing nothing!

Obviously the motorcyclist was in the wrong, but don't know what the car driver was getting so excited about. It is obvious the m/c is well clear of the track and the rider knew that. However, he could simply have ridden around the end of the barrier.
