Can someone clarify the situation regarding monthly pension payment requirement for OA Retirement Visa Extension .

Understood to renew extension, you either require to have 800,000 bht in Thai Bank Account, min of 3 mths b/fore renewal date & 3 mths after that date.

Or, show evidence of a monthly pension transfer to a Thai Bank Account of min 65,000bht /month.

Today someone suggested, U now, apart from the Pension Transfer, you're also required to have 400,000 in Thai Bank Account min 3 mths etc!!..

The Thai Immi website has no suggestion/information, such as this, nor have I seen any other mention of 400,000 bht, other than for a Marriage Visa...

Can a member please clarify if this is true or not?

There always seems to be inaccurate information floating around!

Thank U.

Yes, when on an extension of stay of a Non Imm O or OA - retirement Visa, and you did choose for the money-in-bank method you have to provide evidence that:

- in the period of 2 months prior to application for extension of stay AND 3 months after that application, the amount on your thai bank-account has never dipped below 800K; and

- during the 7-month period in between the above, that the amount on your thai bank-account has never dipped below 400K.

I have been using the income method for four extensions. If I were to switch to the savings method, would I only need to show the 800k two months before my extension? I suppose there's no rule about switching income-proof methods.

Who ever said that is wrong.

No money has to be in a Thai bank when using the income option to apply for an extension of stay.

Thank U guys, appreciate your clarification of the situation, ie, is as I understood to be Pension only proof to Account

OP, what method have been using in past as sounds your slightly confused. You have correct advice above. I only post to check if your aware of the insurance requirement for your next extension since you mention that previously you had a non O-A visa.
