Popular Post webfact
‘Thailand’s tourism industry doomed if we don’t embrace nature’, Bensley tells TTF 2020 By The Phuket News TTF 2020 welcomed over 1,000 delegates to the InterContinental Hotel Bangkok. Photo: TTF 2020 BANGKOK: Thailand’s tourism industry stands on the brink of disaster if it continues along its destructive path of unsustainable growth and can only be saved if it learns from nature, the celebrated architect, landscape designer and disruptor Bill Bensley has warned. Mr Bensley, a highly respected designer, architect and long-standing conservationist, told an estimated 1,000 travel industry delegates at Thailand Tourism Forum (TTF) 2020 in Bangkok that now, as the world faces an unprecedented ecological emergency, they must change their ways if they want to survive, said a release by TTF organisers issued today (Jan 21). Under the theme, “BANG BANG”, TTF 2020 was held at the InterContinental Hotel Bangkok yesterday (Jan 20). The event was a “high-impact, quickfire two-hour stage event that focuses on the critical issues facing Thailand’s tourism and hospitality industries”, explained the release. Popular Post yellowboat
Stop pumping raw, untreated sewage into the ocean would be a wonderful start. It is important to do more than talk, to do more than tell the concerned agencies to cooperate with one another, and to do more than wave one's hand majestically with a serene, but powerful look on one's face. The white elephant known as the EEC can wait a few months. 10 2

Popular Post AhFarangJa
Farang telling the Thai a few home truths. However, we know that Thai will not listen as they know best. TAT will save the day. Unfortunately, as said many times by many people here, Thailand has lost the plot. It started in earnest 6 years ago, and I fear it will never recover. Once you lose your core customer base that were enticed here by all the things that made Thailand a desirable destination for many, many decades, ( and not just the sex trade and bars ), then it will take more than a little spin and a band aid to lure them from places that offer more value for money, better security, less rip offs, cleaner environment. The best thing TAT can do for Thailand is to put the lights out, lock the office doors, and put up a for sale sign. Blackheart1916
Something about a gate, a horse and a bolt comes to mind. Popular Post alant
Far less people in Chiang Mai and my Mrs has fewer bookings. The pollution problem and the reputation Chiang Mai got from it remains and is a huge deterrent. If getting rid of the pollution is embracing nature then it is a good point. Prices, the value of the Baht and scams are also a big problem, the market knows. As for nature, here is an idea, stop the huge differential on national park entry..

Chongalulu
The problems which include this one are multifaceted requiring a holistic strategy. There isn’t that level of thinking in government and it will take some kind of catastrophic event to prompt any kind of address. Corona virus anyone? Yes, I fear you are right but...always a 'but' eh?...I'm now not sure on who TAT has an impact on. The only people who really know the truth are those who earn a living via tourism directly or indirectly. We hear that hotels are suffering from lack of bookings etc. while TAT spews out figures that are almost exactly opposite. I was talking to some locals earlier this week and they had no awareness one way or the other. That got me wondering if the ordinary Thai was interested or not or whether they were just so far removed from the tourism problems that they would just blame, well whoever they thought was responsible for their personal lack of fortune. So, on what, who and where is the 'impact' happening? Perhaps there is absolutely no impact at all hence nothing gets done.
Popular Post Chicken George
Tourism is doomed. Pollution Pollution Pollution! Land sea and air.. Why come to somewhere where you have to wear a mask? Same right across Asia. The sea is full of garbage. The land is a rubbish dump! The food is often laced with insecticide. Its not a cheap place to come either... Screenrecording_20200122_062248.mp4
Yadon Toploy
You know the tourism industry is in soapy bubble when they are trying to convince the government to legalise cannabis to bring a few desperadoes over to have a puff now that the brass has become too expensive. Desperate times, desperate measures.

geisha
I don’t think that ignoring Thailand’s monstrous problems is going to work this time round. The authorities can say what they want, they won’t stop the the havoc being spread. The whole country and it’s once beautiful beaches are polluted.
