Last time I looked Qualcomm was still the leading designer of cellphone chips in the world, not a European company in sight.

 

Now those same chips may well be manufactured in Taiwan, and assembled into phones in China, but I don't seem to see any European companies involved in any of it.

 

Those same Qualcomm devices are standard in almost every phone, from Samsung to the low cost Chinese phone

 

The European mobile industry had it's day in the era of Nokia & Ericsson in the 90's, but imploded in a spectacular and rapid demise!

Qualcomm is doing well, but what about Nortel, Lucent, and Motorola? Bankrupted (Nortel) or sold.

Well I will modify that, since ARM in the UK probably design's 90% of the processors in todays mobile phones, although they don't manufacture them, but most of all the RF devices are still US designs 

......But we are diverging from the topic here
