It's a much broader problem of the financialisation of the economy as it may lead to insufficient investment. That how the North-american Telecom industry failed, while European and Chinese companies went on investing.

What you talking about?

Last time I looked Qualcomm was still the leading designer of cellphone chips in the world, not a European company in sight.

Now those same chips may well be manufactured in Taiwan, and assembled into phones in China, but I don't seem to see any European companies involved in any of it.

Those same Qualcomm devices are standard in almost every phone, from Samsung to the low cost Chinese phone

The European mobile industry had it's day in the era of Nokia & Ericsson in the 90's, but imploded in a spectacular and rapid demise!

Really ? I will check before, but on check-in, if it's a 737, I just won't set foot in the flying coffin. No matter what it costs to change the ticket, better then to cost me life !!!

  • I’d fly Boeing anytime it will be fixed and safe

  • Boeing's problem was never just the latest Max problems. The root cause is embedded deep inside of Boeing manufacturing and management culture.    That is something what can not be fixed ove

Qualcomm is doing well, but what about Nortel, Lucent, and Motorola? Bankrupted (Nortel) or sold.

So which European are doing well?

Well I will modify that, since ARM in the UK probably design's 90% of the processors in todays mobile phones, although they don't manufacture them, but most of all the RF devices are still US designs

......But we are diverging from the topic here

They are not doing very well but they are still surviving so far. You can read this paper if you are interested.
