The Cabinet has agreed to the removal of cannabis from the narcotic list under an approved ministerial regulation of the Public Health Ministry, said Traisulee Traisaranakul, Deputy Government Spokesperson, on Tuesday (January 28).

The regulation states that research would be conducted on the effects of cannabis in medicines, cosmetics, and herbs in line with government's policy to boost the country's production competitiveness.

“Preliminary, this regulation allows the cultivation of cannabis plants by individuals and corporation, subject to the conditions on trade and possession ” Traisulee explained.

“The regulation also states that cannabis plants can be grown at the maximum of one rai per household” she said, adding that “Growers must be licensed, and grow only species specified in the new regulation”.

A whole Rai!Per household! That's excellent and even better than I expected! That means I should be able to get about 3-4 Rai going, not sure it will be enough though as I can get pretty ill if I put my mind to it!Amazing Thailand!High times ahead.

Lip service to show the situation is 100% under control. The cannabis is to supply the medical industry so must be under strict control to guaranty quality and consistency. The health ministry will be my guess for who issues the licences. The new regulations currently going through parliament.

Won't notice a wee bout of pneumonia while high as a kite. Brilliant strategy.

The one rai reference means this is about the HEMP side of things...sub 0.3 THC. And subject to to oversight.

Lay off that "oil"?

As correctly mentioned above, the unrestricted cultivation covers only hemp.

For cannabis there is still a cooperation with university or hospital required.

Apparently not correct.

Cannabis (/ˈkænəbɪs/)[2] is a genus of flowering plants in the family Cannabaceae. The number of species within the genus is disputed. Three species may be recognized: Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica, and Cannabis ruderalis; C. ruderalis may be included within C. sativa; all three may be treated as subspecies of a single species, C. sativa;[1][3][4][5] or C. sativa may be accepted as a single undivided species.[6] The genus is widely accepted as being indigenous to and originating from Central Asia, with some researchers also including upper South Asia in its origin.[7][8]

The plant is also known as hemp, although this term is often used to refer only to varieties of Cannabis cultivated for non-drug use. Cannabis has long been used for hemp fibre, hemp seeds and their oils, hemp leaves for use as vegetables and as juice, medicinal purposes, and as a recreational drug. Industrial hemp products are made from cannabis plants selected to produce an abundance of fiber.  WIKI.

I'm curious as to why people think it is about the hemps side and whats driving that line of thought as there is no mention of hemp in the article. Is it because they are letting us be able to grow so much?During the whole process of this I don't think I've seen hemp mentioned once by the administration.

If the hoi poloy are high as kites. Who's watching the public interest?

It comes from here, which you can Google translate.  Notice all the references to bark, stem, fibers, paper and biomass energy. It does not appear to specifically rule out certain species with medicinal properties, but individuals are very unlikely to be a given a license to grow that variety.

Because we follow developments, the news and Anutin's pronouncements.

One Rai is referenced in the HEMP proposal. HEMP must be below 0.2% (max) THC.

Six Plants refers to Cannabis.

Kratom refers to, well, Kratom, and its de-criminalization.

Well considering that the new regulation (as it's being called) is intended for the poor farmers to supplement their income I think the cost will be minimal.

Work in agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry or fishery excluding specialized work in each particular branch or farm supervision

But worry not, I think Quality Assurance Officer would fall under specialized work.

That leaves 10% that are brighter than the current lot trying to run the show.

How to get the real dope on the official policy?

Will there be a public reeferendum?
