BECTERO reported that a spokesman for the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports said that Chinese government action to stop tour groups and independent travellers from going abroad has hit Thailand hard.

In the immediate wake of the outbreak of the coronavirus visitors from China were down 20%.

But now it is more like 80%.

Compared to last year there were only 143,000 Chinese visitors to Thailand in the week from January 24th to the 31st.

This was around 200,000 down on last year or 58%.

Losses to the tourism sector are now being reported as 9.1 billion baht.

The three areas most hit were sellers of products and souvenirs, hotels and food and beverage outlets, said the media.

Weren't the fit independent billionaire tourists supposed to be the majority, how come when they blocked the tours arrivals plummeted. Can't be that the Xinhua sponsored media or beloved politbyro trolls lied, simply not possible.

Thais don't get lessons, they simply refuse to learn. It'll all be blamed on bad luck or karma or some other BS. Brain failure.

Being Russia, I think they'll simply use catapults over the border.

They are still coming, it was the tour groups that the Chinese government stopped.

Oh dear, spare a thought for the poor old propaganda artists at TAT and the tourism ministry, how are they ever going to explain their 10% month-on-month increases in tourist arrivals now?

Ah ok. I guess it takes time to sail from China and moor the yacht then.
