Hi all,

So my family will be visiting during April including my four year old nephew and one of the things they'd really like to do is bathing with elephants.

I'm aware that there are some of these places in Chiang Mai and Koh Chang but I'm trying to avoid flying or long bus journeys so was wondering if anyone had any experience of these places nearer to Bangkok or know of any places to ride/bathe elephants. It will just be for a few hours, not looking for accommodation or anything. I've seen some places in Ayutthaya and Pattaya, has anybody been to any of these before?

I've lived here seven years but have never done anything like this and I'm aware of the ethical issues surrounding it but it's something my family really want to do.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations or information :)

Kanchanaburi province, about 30km out on the Sai Yok road and make a right turn. Lots to see and do in Kan, 7 tier waterfalls, hot springs, Death railway are just a few. If you are interested, I will get the name of the place for you next time I drive by.

Hi that sounds great. Went to Kanchanaburi years ago and remember the Erawan waterfalls and railway well. If you could find out the name it would be much appreciated ???? thanks for quick reply.

Now at end of dry season and with water shortage near everywhere do not expect much to see at 7-tier w.fall there at Erawan.

Untill just a few yrs ago there also was that famous tiger-temple-but thats now was and not is. Also very lovely for small kids.
