Popular Post webfact
New bikes must meet euro 4 standards By The Nation Officials of Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) on Wednesday (February 5) met with representatives from more than 40 motorbike manufacturers, including major producers Honda and Yamaha, informing them of the requirements of the euro 4 certification for new bikes. The new policy, effective March 29, requires all new products to meet euro 4 standards. To help tackle the PM 2.5 dust and pollution problem, euro 4 requires a 50 per cent reduction of carbon monoxide emissions, from the euro 3 standards currently in use. All producer were told to follow the new policy or face penalties. In the event of a violation, the manufacturer and importer will be jailed for a period of not exceeding two years, a fine not exceeding Bt2 million or both, while the distributor will be imprisoned for a maximum of 6 months or a fine not exceeding Bt500,000, or both. Popular Post JonnyF
All the major manufacturers have been Euro4 for ages and the 2020 bikes are moving to Euro5. The government should focus on their own filthy polluting buses, not bikes which are relatively clean, fuel efficient, cut congestion and require less resource to manufacture. 12 8

No, there are a great many old busses being used to ferry factory workers and they're not run by government or apparently regulated or maintained in any way. 3

Coudn't have said it better. They need to clean up their own buses first. Then as a second step other commercial trucks, buses and pickups diesels. Oh and lets not forget the whole agregultural burning issue which not only pollutes the air but destroys their own soil killing untold thousands of people a year while at the same time destroying their own income. And then, maybe some time when the air is already pretty clean, then they can think about motorbikes. But until then, way more urgent problems are to be fixed. But nothing is being done.

Most of these crazy cables on the poles aren't even power cables but communication. And if the existing power cables would not suffice then thicker ones would be installed. Followed closely by battery disposal pollution and more boot-licking to China who owns and controls the bulk of rare earth metals including lithium. China is nothing if not far looking.

eisfeld
Actually, doesn't EURO4 require ABS on all bikes? Does that mean all scooters will get ABS? That would be great!
