Doctor info reqd--probably for Sheryl

Featured Replies

Sheryl or other knowledgeable person.

1) What type of specialist would I see for possible Liver problems/pain under right rib cage area.

2) What type of specialist would I see for pain/swelling/redness in lower legs (possible Edema or similiar).

Thank you in advance.

1.  For my liver see doctor in GASTROENTEROLOGY AND HEPATOLOGY section.  But you may want to check on Gallstones as that is often a pain in that area rather than liver itself.

1. As above -- GI and Hepatology specialist.

2 This is harder since I cannot tell from your description if this is a likely cellulitis (as you mention redness) with the swelling secondary to the inflammation or if it is edema with some skin discoloration secondary to the swelling.   Is it both legs or just one? Cellulitis woyud be probable if just one. If both then it is more likely the redness you mentiom is secondary to the legs being swollen. This can have a variety of causes including heart problem, liver disease and peripheral vascular disease and these are treated by cardiologist, GI-Hepatology and vascular specialists respectively.

Where in Thailand are you?

How old?

How much do you dtink?

Any known heart disease or other underlying  chronic condition?

On any medications? (amlodopine and other calcium channel blockers can cause leg swelling)

When was yoyr last physical check up?

If you prefer not to post this infp can send me by PM.
