How did you contract it? Recently been in China ? Have been around a lot of Chinese for business or in restaurants , resorts frequented by Chinese?

Because of course China has a clear record and tradition of openness and transparency with its health and economic statistics. They would never lie.

I have read the virus will survive on many surfaces for days or weeks so how does it just dry up and go away?  Also if its in the air whether droplet or not and the wind is carrying it I would think it is airborne for a period would you not?

If 60 percent of the population is effected, there would not be sufficient supply of supplemental oxygen which would likely lead to a higher mortality rate of something (that and you will have a wider spectrum - including elderly and those at risk) a bit higher 3%ish or so.

They don't know how long ... if it is like the flu most surfaces a day but could be longer...  if exposed to sunlight it would die quicker due to UV light. 

 

In China they are taking extraordinary measures to control it.

- whole cities quarantined

- people are not allowed out into public areas (with the exception of one person that can go out every day or so to resupply)

- the person allowed out for resupply must wear a mask and must not associate in public with anyone to limit contact

- quarantine zones policed by drones

- regular spraying of disinfectant in open public areas to kill virus left on surfaces.

 

Not sure the public in the west would be as compliant.

Hmm, see some hoping here and elsewhere Thailand gets bad karma and suffers economic pain. Whilst there is indeed national as well as personal karma, it takes its own course from that nation's acts and not from ill wishers. As such wishing such ill fortune on others just adds to your personal negative karma. Believe or don't.

You know comments like wishing others bad would also probably qualify under that to have bad karma visited upon you.

Flights are still coming to Thailand every day ! So the odds that some of  the passengers will have the virus are ?.... I'll tell you 100%.. this is it going to get bigger

I think just as a precautionary measure most are staying home, everyone is copping it, especially if you rely on the Chinese factor.

It might just be that the combination of cramped conditions/overcrowding and lack of awareness made the rapid spread in Wuhan and other places in China possible.
