Don't be naive. Barr's comments were scripted by Trump to try to stifle the furor around his meddling in the Stone case. The proof of this is that the Whitehouse hasn't complained about the remarks. If someone said anything implying they didn't need to obey Trump(without Trump's approval) they'd be out almost immediately.

Based on Barr's previous behavior, you're definitely correct that this should be taken with suspicion of motives. Hard to prove that though.

If Barr were to withdraw the recent judicial request for reduced sentencing by his senior deputies, and then reinstate the original trial prosecutors on the case who were overruled when they followed federal sentencing guidelines, THEN we might take him seriously.

 

But if he continues to allow the already occurred Trump political meddling to stand, THEN we might pretty well assume the AG's latest proclamation is just another stunt aimed at protecting his Dear Leader, and likewise one aimed at persuading people that Barr isn't the Trump toady he actually is.

So I guess the question arises, what exactly does Barr see his job as AG to be?

 

The naive person might assume he sees his job as one of upholding the fair and impartial administration of federal law and the U.S. Constitution.

 

But history would suggest Barr instead sees his job as being a kind of personal defense attorney for the president with a mission to try to extricate Trump from the illegalities he's engaged in, and to shield him and those around him from the legal consequences of those.

 

If taken in the latter context, Barr's plea to Trump to shut the **** up on the Stone case makes absolute perfect sense, and has absolutely nothing to do with any attempt to preserve the impartial administration of federal law and justice.

 

At this point, I guess all we can hope for is that Trump, Barr, et al. have REALLY peed off the federal judge handling the Stone case.

What I don't get about Trump is that no-one and I mean no-one ever puts him on the spot in press conferences or other events. I understand that the loss of press privileges is a big deal, but surely people of influence could find an opportunity to put the undisputed facts to Trump after they have set him up to start one of his rambling untruth speeches.

 

Get it all recorded and embarrass all of those who prop up his sham.

 

No one has clearly and concisely called him out and backed it up with fact. People questioning Trump always leave him weasel room and leave him with the final retort which is generally just a verbal smear or blatant lie.

 

Sanders has started to call him out but is not using specifics to do so and is not doing so to Trump's face. I'm not sure if he will still be around at the pointy end or whether he has the nounce to set Trump up to politically hang himself in public, though.  Need someone with the temperament of Pelosi but be a more imposing unflappable public speaker than Pelosi.

 

I wonder if the Democrats can come up with a strategy to just show Trump up in public enough times to watch him implode with rage. And I think he could be set up to absolutely lose it given the right circumstances. and tact. Attacking his sense of right and his vanity and having him in a position where he simply must respond would set him off.

 

It is fascinating to watch the hold this mob boss has on the country and to some extent other nations.

No, please, by all means, continue tweeting and dig a deeper hole for yourself. Hopefully some day soon all those tweets will be enough to indict TD (again) for obstruction of justice and abuse of power and a second impeachment can be started. He'd be the first president to be impeached twice, and in one term, no less. Although his hardcore base will probably see that as quite an accomplishment.

Trump has never been indicted.

 

The way to remove Trump from office is to run a better candidate and vote him out.  With the current Dem mindset that is impossible.

You have used the word inept and attributed it to me. The word has a definition that may be defined as " having or showing no skill; clumsy. " Now I have never made claim of Trump as having no skill. In fact I think his is cunning and he clearly has a charisma to be able to persuade people to follow him and chant catch phrases where ever he goes.

 

What you have done is a classic "switch and plant" tactic. By making your dishonest claim, you have now attributed that to me. In time you would then continue to use that term and relate it to me until it sounds common place.

And besides your statement makes no sense. It makes no sense because there are many other factors in play which you have either not considered or chosen to not make light of because it didn't suit your agenda. For instance, if as you claim that I claim that Trump in inept, what makes you so sure that his opposition leader is not more inept and that allows trump to win by way of default because he is deemed to be less inept that the other candidates.

 

And finally, I in no way think that Trump will be easily beaten at the ballot box because amongst other things I believe a lot of Americans simply aren't mindful enough to realise they are being fed such blatant lies. Whether that is through poor education, poor socio-economic background, poor rationalization skills or whatever. But there are masses who will blindly follow Trump. It's a akin to the Dunning Kruger effect.
