Milk supply will increase despite lower demand and the overall economic slowdown due to the coronavirus outbreak, Dairy Cooperatives Federation of Thailand executive Nairit Jamlay said today (February 18).

Nairit said the national fresh milk supply had exceeded the average level by 300 tonnes per day, but consumers tended to drink less milk than before.

Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Chalermchai Sri-on should help solve the issue for dairy farmers by delaying the import of skimmed milk powder and encouraging increased milk consumption in schools – from 260 days to 365 days – to whet demand, Nairit said.
