Thai woman from S Korea fails to go into self-quarantine, visits tourist places instead

A Mae Kued Luang rescue staffer complained to Mae Sot General hospital’s Covid-19 outbreak surveillance centre today (March 6) that a woman, 35, who returned from South Korea and was living with her children in Maekasa sub-district was not undergoing a 14-day self-quarantine according to a Public Health ministry order.

Her neighbour was upset and worried after the woman posted photos on her Facebook page of her visiting many places after her return from South Korea. In some pictures, she is even shown in crowded areas. The post suddenly vanished after many people angrily commented about her responsibility to society.

The coordinator of the rescue said the suspect has agreed to take a virus test. A hospital ambulance was sent to her home and found that her neighbours were all wearing face masks as protection. The woman’s children were not at home. Only her mother-in-law and her husband were present, but she looked healthy. The medical team has taken the woman and a man to the hospital.

Chiang Mai in virus panic: Thai woman says she went out on the town right after getting off the plane from South Korea

4pm.jpg

Thai media reported that Chiang Mai was in turmoil after a Thai woman went online to boast that as soon as she got off the plane from South Korea she went out on the town.

The lady had gone straight to the Funky Grill, a "mala" Chinese barbecue restaurant.

After that she had gone out drinking at a pub.

She hadn't bothered with self-quarantine or otherwise.South Korea is one of the most affected places in Asia from the coronavirus/Covid-19 outbreak.

Thousands of workers there - many illegal - are returning back to Thailand.

77kaoded went to the restaurant and found staff in masks and rubber gloves doing deep cleaning under the guidance of executives.

An unnamed spokesman said that the restaurant had been notified after closing about the woman's post when someone phoned.

Two staff who came into close contact with the woman have been told to stay off work.

They stated that they were powerless to stop a member of the public entering their premises as they had no knowledge about her prior movements.

The woman had boasted online in Thai: "Long khreuang pup khaw raan aharn pap" - which in English translates to: "As soon as I got off the plane I went to a restaurant".

77kaoded said Chiang Mai was shocked.

Obviously not satisfied with the airline food.

look for the announcement for a phone number to report people who you think have broken their self quarantine.

The case of this woman in Chiang Mai is causing quite a stir, I got text messages with photos of the woman from Thais hunting her down.

She's got to be the least popular person in Chiang Mai now. Her photo's being circulated everywhere.

Yes, details please, Mr. Down Under. Where were they in Thailand, and where were they before that? They were just hanging in Bangkok? Or did they stop off in Thailand on their way back from Italy or Iran? Thailand had a few cases like that in recent days.

She deleted her account and went into hiding.

You got five minutes to find her. Or else Chiang Mai city hall will hand out pitch forks to the villagers...

Well I also heard about 1 case but can't give you any details either.

It's been on local TV.

Gee, I wonder what she was doing in South Korea?

I'd say making phad thai was beyond her capabilities! Tend to think she had a more laid back career.

Is this the latest 5 minute strategy or is this a 1 hour strategy?

Ohhh! The suspense!

Self quarantine will never work and imposed quarantine (for everyone from risk countries) is not done by any country besides China I think.

Can you post a link to this story?  I've been wondering if a similar reason may be why Israel stopped receiving Thai residents, even though the official diagnosed/reported Thai cases remains quite low.

What sort of P.Innes would post her photo without knowing the full details.Public naming and shaming by those who are saintly in their own behaviour hiding cowardly behind their keyboards. She was cleared by the authorities at the airport.Did they provide transport with instructions to self isolate? Was she free to use public transport to make her way home?Might be better to fling your sh!t at the authorities if you are so concerned about your well being.

Girlfriend and family live in Maekasa. This is wild.

Many news pages did this, you should complain to every single one of them.

You could start with this one, they belong to the same company as Thaivisa: https://www.nationtv.tv/main/content/378764605/
