rooster59
Bt2,000 hand-outs coming to low-income earners By THE NATioN The Finance Ministry's cash handout proposal has been approved by the Council of Economic Ministers. The Council of Economic Ministers on Friday (March 6) endorsed a Finance Ministry proposal to give low-income people Bt2,000 each via an e-payment channel. Minister Uttama Savanayana said after the meeting there will be a Bt1,000 payment per month for two months for low-income earners, farmers and people who do freelance work. The handout will begin in April. The number of people eligible has yet to be calculated, he said. The cash handout is among the ministry’s first set of relief measures coming in response to an economy staggered by the Covid-19 virus outbreak. It will present the full package to the Cabinet next week. Uttama had said earlier that other measures included soft loans to commercial banks from the Government Housing Bank to be distributed among affected businesses, and tax incentives to discourage companies from laying off employees. christophe75
(to talk about the "merits" from an economic point of view of such "decision" would be of course inane.). The reaction is always the same. It shows a state of mind. A specific way to see the world, deeply ingrained. The feudal state of mind. For any question and/or problem... let's give to the serf/peasant/slave a "token" (a bag of rice, a picture, a medal, a coin, a 1000 THB bill etc.). Really fascinating. They should stop that school directors have to buy their position and then try to make more money out of it in their reign. Shouldn't it be an excellent qualified educator to run a school? You'd have thought so, but no. It's only about who pays a couple of million baht. The money paid for is then taken away from all kinds of sources. The government pays a lot of money to especially more prominent government schools. Still, the money usually disappears in individual pockets of greedy people who do not give a monkeyar_e about the students. It's time for a change. I agree with you. Thailand has the most overfunded Education system in Asia yet the worst results, so pumping more into the bottomless pit ain't gonna change things for the better ! 1

Time for a career change for you. You sound very bitter. The OP is about a grant to the disadvantaged, poorer members of society. Not about people in full time employment.
