A group of 59 Thais who returned from South Korea on Sunday will be monitored for symptoms of the new coronavirus (Covid-19) at the Sattahip Army house, the Royal Thai Navy said.

The centre in Chonburi province was earlier used to quarantine people returning from Wuhan.

The Navy brought the 59 Thais returning from South Korea on Sunday (March 8 ) at around 1.15am to 2.30am.

The Navy said it supports the Ministry of Public Health in following government policies that have instructed the Military to prepare support for Thai people who have returned from South Korea to watch for Covid-19 symptoms.

The Navy said it has organised the Sattahip Army house buildings 3-5 for quarantine of the 59 people -- 27 men and 32 women.

After the first screening, they will be registered and transferred to their own rooms with separate buildings housing men and women and another building for families.

The airport shuttle bus that took the Thais underwent six hours of sanitising and there are guards to keep both the people in quarantine and nearby communities safe.
